13 Colonies Project ---- Due Monday February 25th
Please choose one of the following project options:
1. Create a pamphlet for New England Colonies, Middle Colonies, or the Southern Colonies. Your pamphlet must include the following information:
- Names of the colonies
- Why the colony was settled
- Products produced
- Relationship with Native Americans
- Climate and geography
- Important people
- Government
- Education, lifestyle, and jobs

2. Research information about a colonist from any of the 13 colonies.
- Where he/she traveled
- Contributions to the colony
- Other interesting information
- Birth date, birth place, date of death
- Main events in life
- Family
- Education
- Career

Create a poster board or a Power Point of this person’s life.
3. One night you fell asleep under your electric blanket. When you awoke you realized you were sleeping on a hard surface in a strange and rustic building. Upon further investigation you discovered you had traveled back in time to one of the 13 colonies. You will write a story about your new life in the colony. Your adventure must include:
- Introduction
- At least a 4 week time period
- Main events that describe:
- The people you lived with
- Daily work you completed
- School and activities
- Games you played
- Religion and government of the colony
- At least one famous historical person you encountered
- Conclusion
- A cover and title page for your story
4. Create a Colonial Cookbook:
You are a chef best know for authentic colonial cooking. You will create a cookbook that represents authentic recipes from the 13 colonies. Your cookbook must include the following:
- At least 10 recipes you have researched from online
- You may NOT print recipes from the Internet
- You must write or type the recipes and decorate each page to look like they belong to the same book
- A decorative cover made from cardboard or poster board
- For each recipe you must include; where it came from and for what occasions was it prepared
- Optional: You may prepare one of your recipes for the class to try

5. Colonial Designer:
You are a stylist best known for authentic colonial clothing. You will create a portfolio that represents authentic clothes of men, women, and children living in the 13 colonies. Your portfolio must include the following:
- At least 10 clothing designs
- You may do research online
- You may NOT print images from the Internet
- You must illustrate the designs and include labels when necessary
- You may put your designs in a book or on a poster board
- For each design include the following:
- Who wore the clothing?
- When was the clothing work?
- What was the clothing made of?
