Math Placement Test Information
Welcome to our incoming 9th graders!
The Math Placement Test will be administered on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 10:30 a.m.
· If you are in Pre-Algebra, you will be placed into Algebra I and therefore do not need to take the Math Placement Test.
· If you are in Algebra 1 and want to retake Algebra I, you do not need to take the Math Placement Test.
· If you are currently in Algebra I, Algebra II or Geometry and you want to be considered for placement into Geometry, Algebra II or beyond in the ninth grade, you must take the Math Placement Test which will begin at 10:30 a.m.
If you are taking the Math Placement Test, please email the Admissions Office () with the following information:
Current Math Information:
1. Student Name
2. Current School
3. Math Teacher’s Name
4. Math Course Name
5. Current 8th grade math textbook Information including: publisher, title, and chapters covered thus far. (It is very important that we have this information since the sequence of topics differs in math textbooks. We understand that at the time of this test, your daughter will not have completed the full math course. The information about which topics you have studied will be taken into consideration when deciding on placement for next year.)
6. Which course(s) do you want to try to test out of?
For example:
· If you are currently taking Algebra I this year, you would test to place out of Algebra I, OR
· If you are taking Geometry this year and took Algebra I last year, you would test to place out of Algebra I and Geometry, OR
· If you are currently taking Algebra II this year and have taken Algebra I and Geometry, you would test to place out of Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry. A test to place out of Algebra and Geometry will be taken on March 10th, and a future test date will be arranged for the Algebra II test.
You may use a calculator on these placement tests, but you may not use a cell phone calculator. If you do not bring a calculator, there will be no calculator for you to use. You should bring several sharpened pencils.
We suggest that you study and review Algebra I concepts as well as any other course content for which you are testing to place out of.
