Course Description:

“This course is designed to develop proficiency in using the advanced features of software programs to perform office-related tasks.”The overall purpose of this course is to allow for students to become familiar with and enhance their computer applications skills using Microsoft Office 2016. Students will learn how these applications can be used in a business environment. The four main units of study (one for each grading period) will have various hands-on activities to assist in obtaining Industry Certification.

Industry Certification

Through this course, students will work on Microsoft programs. This training will provide the opportunity for students to obtain industry certification in Microsoft Office Specialist. This certification helps validate proficiency in using Microsoft Office and meets the demand for the most up to date skills on the latest Microsoft technologies. Candidates who pass a certification exam show that they can meet globally recognized performance standards.

Attendance:

Please refer to the Pinellas County Schools policy on attendance. After an absence, students must arrange with the instructor to make up missed work.

Materials needed:

Students must provide and bring to each class meeting a good attitudeand any due assignments. Multiple classroom sets will be used and utilized as well as specific computer software which will be provided. Students also need to bring their binder’s to each class meeting. Binders are worth 15% of our student’s grade.

Computer Care &Privileges

1 – Respect all computer hardware and software.
2 – Do not change any computer settings.
3 – Students must obtain teacher approval before any printing of documents.
4 – Never touch another student’s computer.
5 – Stay on task. Make every effort to do your best.
7 – Leave your workstation the way you found it when you came in to class. This means exit all applications and log off at the end of class.
Agreement to Electronic Device Use
We will periodically use smart phones and will be using computers daily in the classroom. Studentagrees to be respectful with all classroom equipment. Student will only use websites and resources identified or verified by the teacher. Student will avoid digital distractions when working on lessons/tasks.
