4.0 FUTURE PLAN
We currently operate teams from our base at Hallhill Healthy Living Centre, Dunbar, catering for our children’s section starting as young as 6 years old up to our U17’s team.
Our aim is to continue to foster, & develop the game in the Dunbar area, develop the club structure and provide a high standard of coaching at all levels. Progressing from children starting off in the game playing Fun Fours, through to Soccer Sevens before moving up to 11-a-side football with youths capable of entering junior and senior grades
We have also had discussions with our local junior club Dunbar United with the intention of future integration of our youth players involving training sessions and practice games with the junior team to gain experience at this level. The colts and juniors held a joint fete during the summer of 2003. The event proved to be a success and it is hoped that the fete can become a regular yearly event.
Continued involvement with SFA / East Lothian Council Football Development Officer – Walter Borthwick, who regularly carries out coaching sessions for our children’s section and hosts S.F.A. coaching courses at Dunbar every summer.
Dunbar will continue to participate in the East Lothian Soccer Sevens Development Association. Dunbar has provided fixtures lists and coach contact directories for the Association over the last few years.
It is hoped to start an 11-a-side Developmental League within the Lothian’s as an alternative to the competitive Eastern Region leagues. This would involve help from the SFA, the local councils and of course the coaches of the teams involved. The league would start in the 2004/05 season with the current U12s beginning their 11-a-side education within this environment.
Following the success of the Dunbar Soccer Sevens Festival in 2003 it hoped to continue holding the event in future. The event could be expanded to incorporate the older teams. It may also make sense to combine the colts/juniors fete with the Soccer Sevens Festival.

5.0 CHILD PROTECTION GUIDELINES
Dunbar United Colts Football Club exists to provide sporting facilities for boys and girls in the local area and surrounding districts and is run on a voluntary basis. At Dunbar United Colts FC we operate an ‘Open Door Policy’ in relation to membership regardless of race, religion, disability or gender. We at the club believe it is the responsibility of those in charge to care for and develop the participants involved to the best of their individual abilities by creating an environment in which they are safe and receive the best possible coaching. Fair play, mutual respect & understanding and cross community aspects play an important role in the ethos of the club. The Committee and coaches, after being vetted by the club are made aware of our ethos and Child Protection Policy.
To accommodate our code of conduct we institute the following practices;
· Adhering to child protection guidelines as set out by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Scotland.
· Sharing information about child protection and to encourage volunteers to develop their training and awareness in this field.
· Developing the position of Player Protection Officer, starting June 2003.
We are committed to reviewing our policy and what constitutes good practice at regular intervals
All new volunteers introduced to the club since April 2002 must now go through a two stage vetting process.
Stage 1: Each volunteer fills in of the Application Form for Voluntary Service. The Player Protection Officer contacts the two references provided on this form. A Job Description form is also completed.
Stage 2: Each volunteer fills in a Disclosure Scotland form and is interviewed by the Player Protection Officer who completes form PA2 with passport, driving Licence, birth and employment details.
The Player Protection Officer will then be notified of the suitability of the volunteer in relation to unsupervised access to children.
