Enter your user name and password. (Principals can supply.)
Investigating the site
Choose the grade level that you’d like to see.
Choose Math or Reading.
You should see the curriculum.
Test Mode
Choose the pretest and click start studying. (The program requires that a pretest be completed before accessing any other content.)
Choose Test Mode, choose the number of problems and Next. Take the pretest to see sample questions and the format that students will see when they are in Test Mode.
Game Mode
Choose several topics and click start studying.
Under session type, choose Splatand Next.
(or any game)
After the pretest, students will see an explanation button that will explain the rationale for the answer. (only available in topics, not in pretest)
Create Custom Worksheet
Choose several topics and click start studying.
Choose to create a printable worksheet and select the number of questions.
In a new window, the worksheet will appear.
You can print it from this screen, hide the answers, or open it in Word for additional editing.
It will state the topic above each question.

There is a HELP link to tutorials, FAQs, and software documentation on the top right of the screen. They have very good live support staff. Most questions are answered very quickly.
Adding a class/group:
Click on Class Manager on the upper left side of the screen.
Type in a class title and click Next
Choose either School Preferences or Override school preferences.
If you choose Override school preferences, make your preference choices.
Click ‘Add Users in Grade Level’
Select your grade and select your students with checkmarks.
Click Save and Exit.
Adding Assignments:
Click on ‘Class Page and Assignments’ on the right side of the screen, next to class/group that you created.
Click on ‘Add Assignment’.
Create an Assignment Title. You can add an optional note.
Click on ‘Add Topics’
Select a Program and Subject. Click Next.
Choose the skills that you want to assign.
Click on ‘Select Checked Topics’.
On the new page, Click on the status pull-down and select ACTIVATED.
Click on ‘Update Assignments’ at the bottom of the page.
Class Page
When students login, they can see your class page.
You can setup your class page in Class Manager.
Then go to Class Page and Assignments on the right.
How do I run the benchmark report?
To run a benchmark report for your class, perform the following steps:
- Log in to StudyIsland.
- Click the 'School Stats' link in the upper left portion of the screen.
- In the 'Report Format' drop down box select Class summary.
- The 'Select a Class' drop down box will default to users in the grade selected in step 5. If you have setup classes and would like to use them to narrow down the student list choose the appropriate class from the drop down box.
- In the ‘Select the program’ drop down box, select the grade level.
- Click ‘View Report’ button.
- Your class stats will appear. Click on any blue link to find more information about the benchmark.
- Item analysis will break down the test by question. You can see which questions the students struggled with.
How do I run an individual student report?
To run an individual student report, perform the following steps:
- Log in to StudyIsland.
- Click the 'School Stats' link in the upper left portion of the screen.
- In the 'Report Type' drop down box select 'Individual student' report.
- The 'Select a Class' drop down box will default to users in the grade selected in step 5. If you have setup classes and would like to use them to narrow down the student list choose the appropriate class from the drop down box.
- In the ‘Select the student’ drop down box, select the student.
- In the ‘Select the program’ drop down box, select the grade level.
- Click ‘View Report’ button.
How do I run a Class summary report?
To run a class summary report, perform the following steps:
- Log in to StudyIsland.
- Click the 'School Stats' link in the upper left portion of the screen.
- In the 'Report Type' drop down box select 'Class Summary' report.
- The 'Select a Class' drop down box will default to users in the grade. If you have setup classes and would like to use them to narrow down the student list choose the appropriate class from the drop down box.
- In the 'Select a Program' drop down box choose the grade level the student is in.
- In the ‘Select Subject’ drop down box, choose the subject or subjects to view report.
- Click the 'View Report' button.
StudyIsland Assignment Preferences and Passing Parameters
Seeing Assignments Only or All SI content
***In order to see assignments, teachers must have assignments activated and the class page activated.***
Teachers have the option to allow students to see all StudyIsland content or to just allow them access to assignments.
After activating your class page….
If Block other material is set to ‘Yes’, students will not be able to navigate to content outside of their assignments.
If it is set to ‘No’, students will see Programs on the left side and can access that content.
***Added tip***
Teachers can add web links to other websites from their Study Island Class Page. This might be a good way to get students to frequently used websites.
Adjusting the passing parameters
Click on “Adjust Difficulty Level” from the school stats page.
Choose the program and your class.
Choose the subject and the passing level that you’d like applied. (You will not be able to choose a straight percentage. The percentages indicated will be added to the current passing level of the topic.)
Put checkmarks next to the students.
Click “Set Passing Level” to adjust the passing level for the selected students.

Choose to override school preferences and change game preference.

Choose Edit on the assignment that you are changing
Choose to override school preferences
Change game preference for that assignment
Deleting Session Data in StudyIsland
From the School Stats page, pull an individual report for that student.
Choose the subject you wish to delete from
Click number in the sessions column next to the topic
Check the sessions that you’d like removed and click ‘Remove Checked Sessions’
