About the team
The Americas Regulatory Risk Management team is a group with diverse backgrounds and talents including lawyers, actuaries, and government affairs professionals. Our core mission is to identify, influence, and communicate regulatory risks and opportunities in the Americas to enable business success across the enterprise. Our team is responsible for regulatory and legislative issues across all business units in the US, Canada and Latin America, and in coordination with the larger Swiss Re Group. The issues the team handles encompass property/casualty and life/health at the national and state/local levels in the aforementioned jurisdictions.
About You
We are looking for an intern for to support the Americas Regulatory Risk Management team, with a specific focus on technical property/casualty and/or life/health regulatory and legislative issues. The opportunity: The opportunity entails the responsibility to understand, analyze and communicate the impact of technical regulatory and legislative risks on Swiss Re Americas. This work will be done in close coordination with the Americas Regulatory Risk Management team, and other key industry stakeholders including trade associations. The opportunity will require the selected candidate to be an advocate for Swiss Re Americas to internal and external stakeholders.
• The pursuit or completion of a Bachelor's degree in actuarial sciences, natural science, mathematics, economics or another equivalent field from an accredited university
• A basic understanding of re/insurance concepts
• Excellent analytical skills and a natural intellectual curiosity for the re/insurance industry
• Excellent oral and written skills, and the ability to present to groups of various sizes
• Excellent understanding of Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint
• Team player who naturally brings individuals together as needed, across countries and functions
• Reliable, open-minded, creative and enthusiastic
• Ability to work independently and delivery high quality work under pressure
• Exceptional academic performance (Minimum 3.0 GPA)
