GENERAL INFORMATION

St. Paul’s College Bursary Awards are available to those St. Paul’s College Student Members who apply and who meet the qualifying criteria which are listed below. In addition to the general bursary awards, those applicants who meet the general criteria and one or more of the circumstances outlined in Section A of the St. Paul’s College Bursary Application may be eligible for additional bursary awards.

QUALIFYING FOR ST. PAUL’S COLLEGE BURSARY AWARDS

In order to qualify, an applicant must meet each of the following criteria:

Must apply for and qualify for Manitoba Student Financial Assistance.

Must be considered a full time student by the University of Manitoba (at least 60% of a full course load).

Must hold current membership at St. Paul’s College.

Must have obtained a minimum GPA of 2.50 in the previous year (does not apply to newly admitted students).

Must be an active participant in the St. Paul’s College Community (does not apply to newly admitted students).

Must have demonstrated financial need (based on Student Loan Application).

Must have demonstrated commitment to academic studies.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

In order to finalize the St. Paul’s College Bursary Application procedure, applicants must complete in full the attached application titled St. Paul’s College Bursary Application 2006/07 and complete in full the application for the Manitoba Student Financial Assistance Program.

Applicants must apply for the Manitoba Student Financial Assistance for the purposes of verifying their financial status for St. Paul’s College Bursary Awards. This information will count for 50% in the point system used for determining bursary award amounts. APPLICANTS DO NOT HAVE TO ACCEPT FINANCIAL AID FROM THE MANITOBA STUDENT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE OFFICE.

Note:Applicants who hold citizenship outside of Canada and/or are not eligible to apply for the Manitoba Student Financial Assistance Program are still required to complete the application for Manitoba Student Financial Assistance to qualify for the St. Paul’s College Bursaries.

APPLICATION DEADLINE

All applications for the 2006/07 St. Paul’s College awards must be received prior to or on September 29, 2006. Application forms can also be found on the website: and can be emailed to . Please note that emailed applications have been accepted once you receive a confirmation of receipt. The Manitoba Student Financial Assistance application must be submitted directly to the office of the Manitoba Student Financial Assistance Program. Bursaries are normally awarded in December and credited to your tuition account in January.

 4. St. Paul’s Student Member enrolled in the St. Paul’s Catholic Studies Program

 6. St. Paul’s Student Member who has taken 12 credit hours in Catholic Studies Courses

 7. St. Paul’s Student Member enrolled in the Faculty of Law

 8. St. Paul’s Student Member who is majoring in Mathematics

 9. St. Paul’s Student Member whose permanent residence is north of the 51st parallel

(eg. Dauphin, Riverton, Arborg, Black River)

SECTION D - PARTICIPATION IN ST. PAUL’S COLLEGE COMMUNITY

Commitment to the ethos and participation in academic, social and spiritual life at St. Paul’s College are important criteria used in determining bursary award amounts.

MEMBERSHIP. Indicate the number of years you have been a member of St. Paul’s College (include the 2006/07 academic year as one year of membership). Number of years ______

Provide details of your past and present participation in the spiritual, liturgical, and/or outreach activities organized through the St. Paul’s College Chaplaincy or the Jesuit Centre. If you are a new student entering University 1, or a direct entry, or a transfer student, provide details of your involvement in spiritual or religious activity in your high school, parish, or community.

SOCIAL LIFE. Provide relevant details of participation in Student Council, Chaplaincy programs, and social activities such as sports, UI, debating, community volunteering at St. Paul’s College, or if you are entering University I, or are a direct entry, or a transfer student, provide details of your high school activities or those in the community.

Your gross income level may not be a true measure of your economic resources.
