Resume Book Report

Due: Monday, March 25

Requirements:

You must choose a book of any genre and approve it with your teacher. After reading the book, create a resume for one of the main characters in the book. A resume is like a job application.

~You will be able to choose the job your character is applying for; however, make it realistic and relevant to the character’s interests background, and experience. The job may be one that the person already does. For example, if you were reading a story about Oprah Winfrey, you may create a resume on her applying for a job as a talk show host.

~A sample is given below. Please use ONLY information from your book to create your resume.

~You do not have to follow the sample format exactly, so please feel free to add your own style into it. Use resources like the Internet and Microsoft Word templates to give you ideas on a resume style.

~Resumes should be in black ink only, with a friendly to the eye font used. Resumes should NOT be longer than two pages and typed. If you cannot type or print your final copy, please see your teacher ahead of time.

Personal History

This past year I was called upon to be very brave. I didn’t think that ordinary people could be brave, but I was. Nazi soldiers invaded my Great Aunt Birdie’s funeral and demanded information that I felt was not any of their business. One soldier, with his big shiny boots, stomped up to me and harshly demanded, “Who died?” My Uncle Henrik was right; it is easier to be brave if you know nothing. I knew everything including the fact that the funeral was fake. I was able to lie, using a firm voice to say the words, and the soldier believed me. I wanted to cry and hide behind my mother, but my bravery made it so I could deal with the soldier all on my own.

(Two paragraphs describing experiences in the character’s life from the book that are important to the story and make them a good candidate for the job they are applying for. *Hint-use one of the character’s qualifications to help you begin your paragraph.
