Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment

Purpose Statement:

  • Collect, review and analyze student data in order to implement Strategic Action Plan.
  • Support the leadership cadre and provide professional development.
  • Support students’ access to and participation in assessments, testing, curriculum and instruction.
  • Collaborate with the DOE to produce guidance that is shared statewide for things such as aligning curriculum, IA alternate assessment & IA, and instruction.
  • Collaborate with the Department for the Blind for braille materials and accessible materials (AIM)
  • Advocacy for all students who are blind and/or visual impairments and their teachers.

Extended Learning Programs

Purpose Statement:

  • In each AEA, IESBVI staff will plan/implement at least one Extended Learning Program each year for every 30 students served throughout the AEA.
  • IESBVI will utilize technology to enhance Extended Learning Programs.
  • IESBVI will collaborate with other service agencies to expand career exploration opportunities and offer more joint transition services, activities & supports.
  • Summer camps hosted by IESBVI will be scheduled no later than September 30 of the previous year.
