330 Market Street, Brighton on October 5th from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

0th Wedding Anniversary Mass

October 2 ~ Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
October is Respect Life Month. It is the month of Guardian Angels and the Missions. Today’s readings speak of violence (Habakkuk), courage (St. Paul) and faith (Jesus). Whether we are speaking out on behalf of the unborn or sharing how God has worked in our life, take to heart Paul’s words, “do not be ashamed of your testimony to our Lord” Think of the testimony of our October saints: Francis, Teresa of Avila, Therese of Lisiuex, Faustin, and the North American martyrs – just to name a few. Share your story, your testimony.

October 9 ~ Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time
A fall, holiday weekend in New England is, of itself, a reason to give thanks. Think beyond this, beyond the colorful world God gives us. Think of when God has carried you through a difficult time – sickness, death of a loved one, discord, employment concerns, or even just a rough day. Meister Eckhart, a 13th-14th century philosopher, theologian, and mystic, wrote, “If the only prayer you ever say is ‘Thank you’, it will be sufficient.” “Where are the other nine?” Jesus asks. Give thanks to God.

October 16 ~ Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Take to heart the words of Saint Jerome: “Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ.” St. Paul reminds us, “All Scripture is inspired by God” Spend time with Sacred Scripture – the Bible. If you can’t get to daily Mass, the readings are available online ( ) Make Scripture part of your daily prayer. Jesus says that prayer is a necessity. “Pray always without becoming weary”. Not just reading Scripture, but praying with Scripture, is an important step in proclaiming the word ….”whether it is convenient or inconvenient;” and it is never wearying!
October 23 ~ Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time
“… the Lord stood by me and gave me strength, so that through me the proclamation might be completed
and all the Gentiles might hear it.” Proclamation? The proclamation is the Gospel, the Good News of Jesus Christ. Today, we are sent not to the Gentiles, but to those who do not feel welcome in our parish, or have been away so long they feel self-conscious coming back. Our job is to proclaim the Good News – share God’s love for ALL - by inviting someone to join you at Mass and intentionally welcoming the strangers in our pews. God will give you the strength to do this. Let Him work through YOU.
October 30 – Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time
You don’t have to be rich, or short, or a CPA, or work for the IRS for Jesus to come to your house, just open your heart to Him. Zacchaeus was “seeking to see who Jesus was”. The reward for this seeker was an encounter – one that got tongues wagging! Today, many people are seeking to see who Jesus is. Some may not be aware that He is what is missing in their lives. By sharing the importance of Jesus in your life and your encounter with Him daily in prayer, you can introduce Him to a seeker.
