Department: Catch and collect /
Responsibilities include:
1. Generate live bird catch and collect schedule.
2. Ensure schedule is completed and make changes when necessary.
3. Ensure all standards and legislation is adhered to.
4. Ensure bird welfare standards are meet.
5. Deal with any breakdowns that occur to Lorries and forklifts.
6. Telephone farmers with catch times and inform them of possible delays.
7. Deal with problems on farm.
8. Control drivers and catching teams and instruct them of there duties.
9. As required, provide holiday and sickness cover for the department.
10. Any other duties that are required.
Reporting Relationships/Social Conditions:The job of Logistics Planning Foreman is a member of a busy transport office. Effective liaison, team working and interaction with drivers, foremen, catchers and transport office staff is important. This job will require you to work alone; therefore the ability to work on their own initiative is extremely important.
Physical Conditions:The job is performed mainly in an office area relatively close to the factory. The incumbent is required to operate effectively organising the catching and transportation of live poultry. As a result the incumbent will have much contact with factory management.
Competencies, Knowledge and Experience required:- Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently
- Must be numerate and literate
- Previous planning and co-ordination experience is desirable
- Supervisory experience is desirable
- Microsoft and a working knowledge of spreadsheets is desirable
- Evidence of a calm and confident nature and persuasive skills is desirable
- Must be able to think clearly and solve problems
- Must be have evidence of analytical skills and the ability to make decisions
- Good communication skills are essential
- Must be IT/Computer Literate
- Ability to understand and complete paperwork is essential
- Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision is essential
- Must have interpersonal skills and a positive attitude to work and other people
- Ability to work as part of a team member is essential
- Bird welfare knowledge is desirable
- Bio-Security awareness is desirable
- Experience working in transport is desirable
- Experience of driver regulations is desirable
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
· Take reasonable care the Health and Safety of yourself and others who may be affected by your actions.
· Work in a safe manner and observe the Company Health and Safety Rules and Procedures.
· Use the protective clothing and equipment provided.
· Report to your Line Manager any incidents that have led to or could have led to injury or an accident or have affected the environment.
· Report all injuries promptly that occur to your self at work and obtain the necessary first aid treatment.
· Cooperate with Managers and other personnel of the Company to achieve a healthy and safe workplace environment.
· Help in the investigation of accidents in order to prevent recurrence.
· Observe the Company personal hygiene requirements.
· Set an example of safe, correct behaviour, particularly to new entrants and young persons.
· Report any hazard / defect you may observe promptly to your immediate line manager.
· Report any shortcomings in systems of work or procedures to your line manager.
· Not to interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety and welfare or yourselves or your work colleagues.
· To comply with safe systems of work at all times
· To advise managers when not trained for tasks you are being asked to carry out.
Any employee breaching employee health and safety responsibilities will be liable for investigation which may result in disciplinary action in accordance with the Company’s disciplinary policy.
