The SIUE Experience is a freshman orientation program to welcome new students into the campus community. Through classroom and experiential activities, new students will explore the SIUE Values of Excellence, Wisdom, Citizenship, Inclusion, and Integrity guided by upper class students and faculty/staff volunteers. Cougar Guides are responsible for leading and mentoring a small group through the four day program, and providing ongoing personal support throughout the fall semester. This includes but is not limited to team building, role modeling, facilitating activities, creating connections, and providing resources.
Student Affairs is seeking a diverse group of individuals who possess a variety of talents and abilities. Cougar Guides should be seen as approachable and welcoming personalities who are knowledgeable about University resources. Good communication skills and qualities such as sensitivity and openness are also necessary.
