Greetings Brothers and Sisters,

It is that time of year that college planning kicks into gear. Your FOP will again be giving away a $1000.00 scholarship to help defray the cost of sending our extended family members off to begin their college careers. The following requirements must be met in order for an application to be accepted:

Article XV, Section 7. (Barry Wayne Maham Memorial Scholarship). The Barry Wayne Maham Memorial Scholarship Fund shall be governed by the following:

  1. To qualify the applicant must be a child or grandchild to a member in good standing of the Henrico Lodge #4, Henrico Lodge #4 Auxiliary, or the Henrico Lodge #4 Associates.
  1. The applicant must be accepted by an accredited college or university; either two (2) or four (4) years; a business school; et cetera. The only school that would not be accepted would be a trade school.
  1. All scholarship funds awarded will be made payable to the institution only.
  1. Funds will be used to cover tuition and books only.
  1. Each applicant must submit to the President, Henrico Lodge #4, Fraternal Order of Police, the following by June 17, 2016:

(a)A completed application which will be provided by the secretary, Henrico Lodge #4. It can also be downloaded from the Henrico FOP #4 Website.

(b)An essay entitled “Why Higher Education is Important to Me.” The essay must be typed, 12 font/double spaced, and not inexcess of one thousand (1,000) words.

(c)A current college transcript except for freshman applicants.

  1. The Scholarship Committee will screen all applications and select the winner(s).
  1. There will be no names submitted on the essays. The Chairman of the Scholarship Committeewill assign a number to each application to be used throughout the selection process. The Chairman will not vote on the essays.
  1. The year’s Scholarship Committee will rule in applicant(s) selection.
  1. If an application is submitted by a member of the Scholarship Committee, then the committee member will not be allowed to serve.
  1. Grants will not be in excess of two thousand ($2,000.00) dollars per year.
  1. Previous scholarship recipients are ineligible to apply.
