1.GENERAL INFORMATION:Country/Region/City
Spainisasovereigncountry,memberoftheEuropeanUnionfrom1986,constituted insocialanddemocraticstateofright,whoseformofgovernmentistheparliamentary monarchy.Itsterritory,withcapitalinMadrid,isorganizedinseventeenautonomous communitiesandtwoautonomouscities,theseformed,inturn,byfiftyprovinces.
Ithasanareaof505.370km²,beingthefourthlargestcountryonthecontinent,after Russia,UkraineandFrance,withanaveragealtitudeof650metersabovesealevel,itis oneofthemostmountainouscountriesinEurope.
Its population is 46.468.102 inhabitants (2016). The peninsular territory sharesland borderswithFranceandAndorratothenorth,PortugaltothewestandtheBritish territoryofGibraltartothesouth.InitsAfricanterritories,itshareslandandseaborders withMorocco.SharewithFrancethesovereigntyovertheislandoftheFaisanesatthe mouthoftheriverBidasoaandthefivePyreneanfields.
TheSpanishculturehasitsrootsintheinfluencesthatdifferentpeopleshaveleftafter theirpassagethroughthepeninsulathroughoutthecenturies.Althoughthereisa culturalheritagecommontoallSpaniards,themarkedsingularityofitsregionshasgiven risetodiverseculturalmanifestationsthroughoutitsgeography.Thesemanifestations havebeenreflectedinallfields:art,traditions,literature,languagesanddialects,music, gastronomy,etc.
Thesiestaisatraditionthatisreceding,especiallyinthecities.Thenormalrhythmofthe dayinSpainusuallycontinuesdividedintotwoperiods,morningandafternoon,witha pause of two or three hours during the meal. A walk in the late afternoon is a widespreadcustominmanyplaces.
Dinnertime,asinsomeregionsofsouthernItaly,isthelatestinEurope,usuallyaround 9/10p.m.
Thefunischaracterizedtotakeplaceatnight,evenuntiltheweehoursofthemorning. In the center and south of the peninsula, the summer heat has boosted this phenomenon.Nightlifestartslate.Manyclubs,eveninrelativelysmallcities,openat midnightanddonotcloseuntildawn.
Inrelationtofood,geography,cultureandclimatehavecreatedaveryvariedcuisinein recipes and culinary styles. The different civilizations that have passed throughthe peninsulahavealsolefttheirimprint,whichhasreachedourdays.Partofthatinfluence isduetoJewishandMoorishtradition.
FishisanimportantpartoftheSpanishdiet.Meat,however,isusuallymorecommonin theinterior.Thereisanobligationtomentionofoliveoil,whosetraditionismillennialin Mediterraneancuisine.

Galicia is a Spanish autonomous community, considered historical nationality accordingtoitsStatuteofAutonomy.ItislocatedinthenorthwestoftheIberian PeninsulaandformedbytheprovincesofLaCoruña,Lugo,OrenseandPontevedra, whicharecomposedof313municipalities,groupedin53districts.Thecapitalisthecity ofSantiagodeCompostela,whileVigoisthemostpopulousmunicipality.
Geographically,itlimitstothenorthwiththeCantabrianSea;tothesouth,with Portugal;tothewest,withtheAtlanticOcean;andtotheeast,withAsturiasandCastilla y Leon (provinces of Zamora and Leon). In addition to the mainland, itincludes thearchipelagosoftheCies,OnsandSálvoraislands,aswellastheislandsofCortegada, Arosa,SisargasorMalveirasandothersmallerislands.
Galicia has 2.726.291 inhabitants (2015), with a demographic distribution that agglomeratesthemajorityofthepopulationinthecoastalstripsbetweenFerrolandLa Coruña, in the northwest, and between Villagarcía, Pontevedra and Vigo in the southwest.
The culture of Galicia has many affinities with those of the other towns on the Cantabriancoastand,byextension,therestofSpainandEurope.Oneofitsmost definingaspectsistheGalicianlanguage,whichhasmanytieswithPortugueseandis spokenbyapproximately2,587,400speakers.
Atpresentwehavearichandlivelyculture,whichstartswithtradition,buthas incorporatedcontemporarylanguages.ThefactofbeingtheendofaPath"SaintJames Way",whichhasculturallyvertebrateEurope,hasfacilitatedthepenetrationofthe currents of European art and thought throughout the Middle Ages. Besides, the emigrationtoAmericahadagreatinfluence.
TheGalicianculturalheritageischaracterizedbyitsrichness,diversityandgeographical extension,aswellasbyitsconnectiontothesurroundinglandscape.Themegalithic monumentsabound-rockengravings,orcastres,andtherearenumerousRoman remains,includingtheMuralladeLugoortheTowerofHerculesofACoruña,declareda WorldHeritageSitebyUNESCO.ButifsomethingturnsitintoareferentEuropeanare themultiplearteriesoftheroadthatleadstoSantiagodeCompostela,acityrecognized byUNESCOasWorldCulturalHeritage.
AttheendoftheJacobeanrouteisthecathedralofSantiagodeCompostela,symbolof Galiciaforitspatrimonialvalue,foritshistoricalimportanceinshapingtheEuropean identityitself.
With its more than 30,000 population centers, the Galician landscape is deeply humanized.Thearchitecturalheritageisdominatedbyreligiousbuildingsingranite. Withintheethnographicpatrimonystandout,byvalueandnumber,the“hórreos”-and thestonecrossesor“cruceiros”.
InrelationwithGalicianfood,itcanbementioneditstraditionalhospitality,beingusual thatincaseofgoingtoeatatthehouseofanoldpersonandofaruralenvironment,it isostentatiousItspantry,beingconsideredofgoodeducationtoofferandinsistthe guestsothatitdoesnothaverepairtoeatinabundance,beingconsideredacertain discourtesynottoacceptortobelieveitsignofweakness.
InGaliciansociety,inspiteofthemodernglobalizedhabits,itisveryvaluedtoeatin company,beinghabitualtoseehowseveralfriendsmeettosharetableandtablecloth, eveninthedailyworkingdays.Therecessinthedayismadewithfoodandusually prolongedmorethaninotherplaces.
The fundamental characteristic of Galician gastronomy is the high quality ofits rawmaterials,bothinmeatofallkinds(mainlycow,pigsandchicken),asproductsof thesea(Galiciahasalongtraditionofseafoodandtheuseofalltypesofmarine resources), as well as in derivatives (very important dairy production, although harmedbyincorporationintotheEEC)andagriculturalproducts(variedcerealand horticulturalproduction).
Lugo,hostcityoftheproject,isborderedbytheCantabricanSeafromthenorth,the citiesofACoruñaandPontevedrafromthewest,theprovinceofOurensefromthe south and Principality of Asturias with the province of León from the east. Geographically,thecityislocatedonahill,inaregionofroundedandnotveryhigh mountains,surroundedbytheriverofMiño.
Thecityhasromanoriginsanditwasfounded25.A.C.,beingtheoldestcityofGalicia.It wasbuiltneartoafortintheRomananditmaintaineditsveryownanduniqueRoman wallwhichwasdeclaredaWorldHeritageSitebyUnescointheyearof2000.Tilltoday theRomanwallisoneofthemostimportantsymbolsofLugo.
Lugoisacommercialcityandservices,anditsuniversityisspecializedinthesciencesof agriculture(e.g.engineeringandveterinary).Theyemphasizeitspopularfestivalslike
‘’Arde Lucus’’, which recalls the Roman age and the past of the city, and ‘’San Froilán’’
that attracts more than a million visitors to the city every year.
Ontheotherhand,thecityholdsalotofbeautifulsquares,peacefulparksandother landscapeareaswithoutstandingsightssuchastheCathedral,theArchbishopPalace and CityHall.
LeisureandfreetimeactivitiesinLugoarevariable.Therearemanydifferentsportsfield toaccess(e.g.football,basketball),askateparkintheparkofFrigsa,riverandswiming poolstoswinandalsoveryrichculturalactivitieswithdifferentprograms(e.g.dance showcases,differentconcerts)inCírculodelasArtesorliveconcertsinClavicémbalo club.
Besides,mostofthemarketsandshopsinLugoareclosedonSundays.Regularhoursof supermarketsandtheshopsarefrom9/10am-14pmandfrom16pm-21pm.
Themaintowns,apartofthecapital(Lugo),areMonforte,Viveiro,Ribadeo,Villalba, Sarria,Burela,ChantadaandMondoñedo.InthenorthoftheprovinceofLugoaremany beaches,viewpointsandlighthouses.Itmustbedestacatedonebeachcalled"The Cathedrals"whichisconsideredasoneofthemostspectacularbeachesoftheworld.It iscalledthiswaybythesetofcliffs,somewithmorethan32metersofheight,that carvedbythewindandthesea,formarcsandspectacularvaultsleavingawonderful landscape.
2.CLIMATE:
Theclimateiscontinentaloceanic,withcoldwintersandmildsummers.Theaverage annualoftemperatureis11.5°Candrainfallisabundant(over1000mmperyear). BecauseofitsdistancefromtheAtlantic,thislevelofprecipitationmaybeconsidered lowcomparedtoregionssuchSantiagodeCompostelaorACoruña.

3.BRIEF SUMMARIZE OF THE PROJECT ANDTASKS:
Theprojectisaimedprimarilyatlocalyouth,butourgoalistoinvolvetheentire communityregardlessofage,gender,etc.Thecentralthemeofthisproposalrevolves aroundthepromotionofhealthylivinghabits,offeringnewalternativesforleisuretime totheinhabitantsofthecityofLugo.
Volunteerswillhelpwiththepromotionofthenewsportintroducedinthecity,Disc Golf.Wewillorganizedifferentpubliceventsforit.Alsotheywillhelpustopromote healthylivinghabitsandEVSinourcity.
Wewillencouragethemalsotosharetheirownproposals(relatedwiththepromotion ofhealthylifestylesinthehostcommunity),tryingtocarryoutasmostofproposalsas bepossibleforusduringthedevelopmentofactivities.
Inadditiontothis,volunteerswillhaveSpanishlessonstwiceaweek,twohoursaday.
We will organize the On Arrival Training for each group, the first three days of theActivity,andotheractivitiesrelatedwiththeinterculturality,theKnowledgeof thehostingculture/country,theimprovementofthesocialabilities,workshops, amongothers.
4.ACCOMMODATION /LODGING
Volunteers will live together in a flat. The flat is provided with internet,
2bathrooms,4rooms,1livingroom,equipedkitchen(withmicrowave,oven,kitchen, fridge,cookingutensils,etc.),washingmachine,amongothers,safeandadequatetothe conditionsofthecountryandtheregion.
Participantswillhavetoshareroomwithothervolunteers.Theflatcountswith: 3doubleroomsand1single.

5.RIGHTS ANDDUTIES:
1.Volunteerswillbetheresposablesofpreparingmealsandthecleaning house maintenance, always supported by their mentor. Besides, theywill shareroomwithothervolunteer.
2.Volunteerswillhave3daysofholidaysmarkedinoneofthetwolastweeks of theactivity-project.
3.The financial support in form of pocket money for the mobilityperiod hasamaximumamountof168EUR.Thevolunteershallreceivethepocket moneyinsixpaymentsof28€each,bycash,aftersigningareceiptofthis amountofmoneytothehostorganisation.Firstpaymentwillbeatthestart oftheActivityandatthestartofeachweekrespectively.
4.Participants shall receive money for food each week. Itwillbepaidbythe hostorganisation,onceaweek.Mealswillbeorganised,inthesensethatthe groupwillcookandeattogetherduringtheweekofwork.Themostessential things,volunteerswillhaveathomewhentheyarrive(detergent,cleaning products,milk,oil,somevegetablesandfruits,amongothers)andtheywill havetomanageafixedbudgettobuyothermorespecificswiththesupport ofthementorassigned.Thismoneywillbegiventothegroupofvolunteers- alltheamounttogether-onceaweek,aftersigningareceiptofthisamount ofmoneytothehostorganisation.
5.Volunteerswillhaveanassignedmentorandatutorwhowillsupportthem andtheirlearningprocessduringthewholeactivity.Thementorwilllivewith thegroupofvolunteersinthesameflat.
6.TheactivitywillberecognizingwithYouthPassCertificate.Volunteerswill receivethisCertificateaftercompletingtheProjectsuccessfully.
7.VolunteerswillreceiveabasicSpanishlanguagecourse,duringonehourand half,twiceaweek,byateacher.

- ParticipantsmustrespecttherulesestablishedbytheHostOrganization,related withthesafety,theuseofthefacilities,materials,amongother.
- Carryoutvoluntaryactionwithequalityandjustice,withoutdiscriminationor treatmentbasedonsex,religion,socialstatusorpoliticalcreedwithrespecttoother participantsorpeopleinvolvedintheactivity.
- Volunteers shall keep and give the invoices, receipts etc., provided by the supermarketsandshops,tothehostorganisation,helpingustojustifythefoodcosts totheSpanishNA.
- Participantsshallcompletetheon-lineEUSurveyatthelastest30daysaftertheend ofthemobilityperiod.
- Everyone in the house will have a set of keys, with a key to the front door andanothertotheapartment.Participantsmusttakecarewiththekeys.Incasethat you lose them, you must notify it immediately to a responsible of the host organization to maintain the safety of everyone in the house. At the end of the project, volunteers must deliver the keys to a responsible of the host organization.
- Participantsshouldbepunctualatthestartofdailyactivities.Volunteersmusttryto respecttheestablishedtimetable.
- Roomswillbeusedbytheiroccupantsandeachpersonmustkeephis/herroom clean,linensmustbechangedduringthemonthactivityandwashed!
6.RULES OF HOSTINGORGANIZATION
DRUGS
Thehomeandtheworkplaceshouldbefreeofalcohol,tobaccoandallkindofdrugs.
LegislationinSpainprohibitsthesaleofalcoholandtobaccounder18yearsold.It´snot permittedtosmokeinpublicplaces,transport,bars,restaurants,etc.
Peoplewith18yearoldorolder,candrinkalcoholintheirfreetime,outsideofhome.
Please, you could make use of it but you must not abuse of it!
Illegaldrugsarereasonofimmediateexpulsionoftheproject.Inthiscase,volunteer willhavetopayallcostoftraveloutsideofwithinanyresponsibilityofthehosting and sendingorganisations.
GUEST AT HOME
Itisnotallowexternalpeopletothehostorganizationorthevolunteersathome. Particular or special cases must be consulted with a responsible of the host organization.
SLEEPOVERS / GOINGOUT
Peoplewith18yearsoldoroldercansleepoutofthehouse,butalwaysmustto consultitwitharesponsibleofthehostorganization.Wehavetoknowalwayswhere youare;alsowhenyougoout,ifyouaregoingtoanothervillageyoumustnotifyit beforetothehostorganizationforsecurityreasons.
