Description of the Distinguished Ethnobiologist award

The Distinguished Ethnobiologist award is bestowed biannually by the Society to an individual who is recognized for their outstanding contributions to promoting ethnobiology and the goals of the Society. A nominee does not need to be a member of the Society. The only responsibility of the awardee shall be to present an address at the annual meeting the year of his/her selection. He/she shall become an honorary member of the Society for life.

Nominations are sorted by the Society’s nominations committee, and then presented to the board for a vote.

Nomination and selection process: Nominations committee arranges to have a call for nominations published on website and in the Journal of Ethnobiology, and on related listservs. Nominations (with CV and nomination letter) received by nomination committee.
