This course surveys the history of the United States from 1877 to 2017. This course is required by the state for graduation; this means every student must take it... and every student must pass it! My advice to everyone taking this class; come to class everyday prepared to learn, work hard, and take advantage of the opportunities that I will provide. If you do these things then you will be successful in this class.
Attendance for this class is very important. You are allowed to miss up to 8 days before losing credit in this class. With that being said, missing class will be detrimental to your learning. Note: 3 tardies is a referral.
Students who are absent from class will be given the opportunity to make up any work missed while they were out. It will, however, be your responsibility to get any work you missed, not mine! To get missed work, email me or talk to me before/after class.
The final exam for this course is a mandatory state given test that will be worth 20% of your final grade average. The other 80% of your grade will come from classwork (30%), quizzes (20%), and tests (50%).
As with all other classes here at Lee County High School, I expect all school rules to be followed. I will not allow electronics (cell phones, mp3 players, etc.) or food/drink in my classroom (water is allowed). If I see any electronics, you will receive a referral. See student handbook for further information.
Students need to bring their chromebooks every day. We will be using them on a regular basis for classwork and research. Remember, having a chromebook is a privilege; it can be taken from you if you are using it inappropriately.
Feel free to contact me with any questions. I am available before school from 7:30-8:00 and after school until 3:30 if you would like to reach me by phone. You may also reach me by email.
