BROADMOOR MIDDLE MATH AND SCIENCE MAGNET

ENROLLMENT INFORMATION

Openings Available for 6th Grade:

PLEASE NOTE: CPSB policy limits enrollment to 50 students who reside outside the Broadmoor Middle Math and Science Magnet Middle School attendance zone. Therefore, no more than 50 students will be accepted in 6th grade who live outside the Broadmoor Middle Math and Science Magnet School attendance zone.

October 12, 2015Applications available. To qualify a student must:

  • State Testing requirements (testing changes pending)
  • Have a 2.50 cumulative grade point average
  • Have a C or above average in conduct
  • Review of Statewide Assessment results (pending state updates)
  • Have no suspension record during the prior school year
  • Have a good attendance record – 95% or better
  • Be willing to develop skills in initiating, planning, and carrying out projects
  • Have high motivation toward excellence
  • Be willing to participate in activities that strongly emphasize citizenship, patriotism, and character development
  • Be responsible for a home learning notebook

PARENTS’/GUARDIANS’RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sign a contract each year agreeing to support the specialized school program
  • Agree to remove a child from Broadmoor Middle Math and Science Magnet School for discipline or attendance infractions, during or at the end of the year, as recommended by school principal

Application Acceptance Information

  • Applications must be turned in to Broadmoor Middle Math and Science Magnet School between 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. if Broadmoor Middle Math and Science Magnet School is the student’s first choice. On-line applications must be electronically submitted by 11:59 p.m., January 8, 2016.

The completed application packets should include the following information:

  • Completed application form with proof of residency, such as a gas, water, or electric bill for address listed on the application.
  • Copy of 2nd nine weeks report card (Only private school students, out-of-state students, or non-Caddo Parish students) due after application deadline by date of January 21, 2016 to the school where application is made.
  • Copy of 504 IAP/IEP Determination and Testing Modification Page(s) (if applicable). On-line applicants must submit a copy by email, fax, or hand delivery by January 12, 2016. (Email – ; FAX 318-603-6364; Hand deliver to Candice Perry at Caddo Parish Public Schools, 1961 Midway, Room 159).
  • Parents will be notified of disqualifications due to qualifications not being met.
  • Testing will be scheduled at a magnet elementary or neighborhood school if fifteen (15) or more students are to be tested. Parents will be notified if testing is scheduled for their child’s school during the January/February testing window.

January 23 & 30, 2016

Middle School Entrance Test will be given at Caddo Middle Magnet School and Herndon Middle Magnet.

  • These test dates are for any student who attends a Caddo Parish school, a private school, or an out-of-state school.
  • Students who did not receive a disqualifying letter should report to the testing site on their

assigned date by 8:00 a.m. for testing.

  • Seventh and eighth grade applicants will be tested.

March 24, 2016 Placement results will be mailed to all students.

April 21 & 22, 2016Contracts will be signed. Contract signing will take approximately one hour.

June 9, 2016Students currently attending private schools or out of parish or out of state schools should mail a copy of the final report card and results of most recent statewide assessment results or standardized testing results to the appropriate schools. This does not apply to students currently enrolled in a Caddo Parish public school.

All acceptance contracts are dependent upon a review of the final report card, Statewide Assessment results or standardized testing results, and proof of current residence.

Students must maintain entrance requirements throughout the year. Parents will be notified of

disqualifications due to report card and Statewide Assessment results or standardized testing results

Additional Information:

  • After a contract has been signed, a student MAY NOT transfer to another magnet school during that school year.
  • Students who have a gifted evaluation must qualify to be considered for acceptance.
  • Please see the transportation policy at the top of this information sheet.

The Caddo Parish Test Security Policy (Policy IL) applies to all magnet testing and placement.
