SY15Tornado Preparedness Plan
The following procedures are to be followed in the event of a Tornado Drill or Tornado Warning:
- Extinguish all open flames/appliances
- Close windows and outside doors
- Move all students and personnel to the following locations:
Building I – Mr. Kidd – Mr. Boggess – Mr. Kozak
Cosmetology – All classroom and lab students and patrons assemble in rooms 101 and 102 Cosmo classrooms. If there is an overcrowding then some students should move into the nursing classrooms 105 and 106.
Nursing/South, Graphic Design, Computer Technology, and Medical Classes – Move into the corridor outside each classroom beginning as close to the corner of the lobby intersection as possible, and maintaining as much space between the last person and the exterior corridor door as possible. Students should be spaced single file along the corridor wall abutting the classrooms.
Office Staff – Remain in the main office area, away from outside walls and as far from the glass interior partitions as possible.
Custodial Staff – Seek shelter in an interior corridor of the closest permanent building.
Building II – Mr. Salas – Mrs. Kingsley-Scott
Classes and Computer Labs – Move into the corridor outside each classroom beginning as close to the corner of the lobby intersection as possible and maintaining as much space between the last person and the exterior corridor door as possible. Students should be spaced single file along the corridor wall abutting the classrooms.
MediaCenter Occupants – Move into the Related Classroom.
Related Classroom Occupants – Remain in the room.
Building III – Mr. Terry
Motorcycle Academy – Move into the classrooms. An overflow of students may stand in the corridor area. Students should avoid the area near proximity to the outside windows.
Building IV – Mr. Brown
Automotive & Music Classes – Move into the classroom. An overflow of students may stand in the corridor area. Students should avoid the area in proximity to the outside windows.
Building V – Mr. Murray
Auto Body and Marine Mechanics Classes – Move into the classroom. An overflow of students may stand in the corridor area. Students should avoid the area in near proximity to the outside windows.
Coach D’Ambrosio
P.E. – Students and teachers go to the weight room.
Portable Classrooms3S, 4S, 5S, 6S, 7S, 8S,9S, 10S, 11S—Move into Bldg 4 “Music Room – West”. An overflow of students may stand in the corridor area. Students should avoid the area in near proximity to the outside windows. The teachers will assure that the corridor door leading outside is unlocked for portable classroom students.
Officer Principe– Ms. Turenne
Portable Classrooms 1AN, 1BN, 1CN, 9N, 10N, 11N, 12N, 13N, 14N, 15N, 22N – Move into the Nursing Classroom 105 and 106. If patrons are present, they will accompany the class to the designated shelter.
Ms. Williams
Portable Classrooms 2N, 3N, 4N, 5N, 6N, 7N, 8N, 16N, 17N, 18N, 19N, 20N, 21N – Move into the related classroom in Bldg. 2. Students should be spaced single file along the walls of the classroom and others seated at the tables. Doors should be closed once all students are inside.
SouthTech Mr. Ross
Portable Classrooms 1E, 2E, 3E, 4E, 5E, 6E, 7E – Occupants of these classrooms will relocate to the classrooms and corridors of Building 4 “Music Room - East”.
Tornado warning only-evacuees shall be instructed to lie down in the fetal position and cover their heads and faces with their arms and hands. If someone is outside and cannot reach a building, ditches or depressions in the ground are more favorable hiding places than flat terrain for seeking cover.
