Nottinghamshire LPC AGM18th September 2014

Chair’s Report to contractors for year 2013 / 14
Rob Severn

Chairman’s Annual Report

Again I can report that the past 12 months have had their challenges, as a result of the large changes that the NHS has gone through your LPC has found that demands on it have increased. The number of organisations that we have working relationships with has increased, plus the many other organisations both from the Public and Private sector and also the voluntary sector that also want to consult with us lead to the LPC reviewing its resource.

The result was an investment in extra administration support and also a change in the way the LPC members operate, with lead members assigned to CCG as well as a named member for each contractor. This I hope will drive the LPC engagement with you the contractors.

We are in the process of undertaking local contractor meetings within each CCG area, I urge you to attend these (if you have not already done so). These events have had representation from the CCG’s and the Area Team, to provide a great platform to share ideas of joint working. The events have been very well supported and resulted in some work streams for the LPC that I hope will lead to both patient and contractor benefit.

Nottinghamshire LPC has worked hard over the past year to retain Locally Enhanced Services (to varying success) and work with commissioners to provide new opportunities to, I was pleased to see a NHS flu vaccination service offered to our Bassetlaw contractors, and for City and County (excluding Bassetlaw) the out of hours emergency supply service - which contractors implemented within a very short time frame over the Christmas period – this I am now pleased to report has been commissioned for an extended period.

The LPC responded to the Pharmacy Call to Action consultation in early 2014 and also hosted joint meetings with the Area Team to help provide input from contractors. We are still waiting for the national outcomes and will support the development of local actions with the Local Professional Network (LPN) when they are received.

The new committee formed in April 2014 and we welcomed two new members, Zameer Somani and Philip Kielthy .We said goodbye to long standing member Makinder Suri and also to Jai Shah . Since then we have also lost Lyndon Close and I would like to take the chance to say thank you to these three for the work they have done, and especially reference that with Makinder and Lyndon we have lost two individuals who in the past have both been the Chair of the LPC and who have contributed immensely to Community Pharmacy in Nottinghamshire.

Finally I must also thank both Nick and Alison for the hard work they do for the LPC, and also the members of the LPC who constantly strive to represent community pharmacy contractors and improve outcomes for all.
