The Sibley Christian Reformed Church invites you to the concert of the Gospel Gold Quartet on Sunday, October 15. 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the Christian Reformed Church. Gospel Gold is a traditional four part male quartet from Sioux Falls, SD. The quartet was formed by experienced singers to promote and perform a variety of gospel music with a special focus on the old hymns and anthems of our faith. PROFESSION OF FAITH – With great joy the council heard the profession of faith of Matthew Hibma at their meeting on Monday evening, October 2, 2017. With thanks to God the council unanimously approved Matt’s request to publicly profess his faith among God’s people at the Ocheyedan Christian Reformed Church. We anticipate hearing Matt’s public profession of faith in our morning service of Worship this morning, October 15, 2017.

FALL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING – The council invites the members of the congregation to the fall congregational meeting to be held, the Lord willing, on Monday evening, November 20, 2017 at 7:00 pm in the fellowship hall. At this meeting the council’s proposed budget for 2018 will be presented, explained, discussed and voted upon. Copies of the proposed budget will be distributed in the mailboxes in the next few weeks.

On October 22,after the evening service,we will have a social time to show our appreciation as a churchto Pastor Bill and Marge.Ice cream with apple crisp and browniesundaes will be provided.

BENEFIT SOUP, SANDWICHES, AND DESSERT SUPPER AND SILENT AUCTION: A special benefit supper and silent auction will be held on Friday evening, October 27, 2017 from 5 pm – 7 pm to help Larry and Sam Hoekstra with their mounting expenses following their motorcycle accident. This Ocheyedan Community Benefit event will be held at the Town Hall and is being coordinated through a united effort of all the churches in town. Carry-outs are welcome for those who wish to bring a field supper to the harvesters. The menu will include soup (vegetable beef, chicken noodle and chili), sandwiches (ham or cheese); and assorted deserts. If possible, please bring your own containers for carry-out orders. If you have any new items or services to contribute to the silent auction please contact Pastor Steve Swenson, at 712-260-6700.

SOUP AND DESSERT MAKERS BEING SOUGHT: Our church is being asked to provide the following soups and desserts for the October 27, 2017 benefit dinner and auction for Larry and Sam Hoekstra: three (3) gallons of chicken noodle Soup (recipe of your choice); three (3) gallons of chili (recipe of your choice); and nine (9) 9x13 pans of dessert and/or pies. If you are able to help with donating some soup or a dessert please see the sign-up sheets in the narthex beginning today. Thanks!

REFORMATION SUNDAY AT DORDT COLLEGE:Congregations of Classis Heartland & Iakota are warmly invited to a combined worship service commemorating the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation. Join us Sunday, October 29 @3:00pm.Please note the change in venue—Dordt College’s BJ Haan Auditorium in Sioux Center, IA. The service will include music by area high school choirs and a brass quintet, an expository reading by Dr. James C. Schaap, a video chronicling God’s diverse classical efforts, a sermon by Pastor John Lee, communion hosted by the councils of First and Hope CRC's of Hull. Reformation Sunday - In the 500 years since the Reformation, the Bible hasn’t changed—and we still have a calling as Christians like our brothers and sisters from so long ago. Resonate Global Mission works with our church to spread the word of God around the world, and on Sunday, October 29, we will join many other Christian Reformed churches in taking an offering for Resonate. The Western Christian FFA club will be hosting their 3rd Annual Farmer Feed at Saturday,October 21st! Western Christian High School will be hosting a presentation by Dr. Terry Mortenson from "Answers in Genesis" onMonday, October 23 at 9 a.m.in the Western Christian Event Center. Dr. Mortenson will present his view on the flood during the time of Noah. This presentation is open to the public.

The Worthington Christian School will again be selling Dutch Apple Pies made by Kia Nystrom for $15 each. Pre-orders may be placed by contacting the school at 376-4861.
