INFORMATION BROCHURE AND APPLICATION FORM
(Information and Instructions to candidates (to be retained by the applicant)
- GENERAL
As per Government of Uttar Pradesh order no. 2688/71-3-2001-57/2001 dated 29.09.2001, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow (SGPGIMS) shall be conducting the Competitive Entrance Examination for selecting candidates for admission to 75% institutional postgraduate MD/MS/Diploma/MDS courses in the allopathic medical colleges of Uttar Pradesh viz. Agra, Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Kanpur, Lucknow and Meerut and the Dental Faculty of K. G. Medical College, Lucknow for the year 2002.
(i)Candidates, who have passed MBBS/BDS course from state Medical Colleges of Agra, Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Kanpur, Meerut & K.G.M.C., Lucknow are eligible to appear in the examination.
(ii)Candidates who are domicile of U.P. and have passed MBBS/BDS courses from Medical/Dental colleges of other states and were admitted on 15% All India seats through All India Premedical/ Predental Examination conducted by CBSE are eligible to appear in this examination.
(iii)The eligible candidates who get selected through U.P.P.G.M.E.E.-2002 will be given admission on available seats in postgraduate courses by Counselling on merit cum choice basis.
(iv)A candidate who takes admission on the basis of P.G.M.E.E. All India Entrance Examination-2002 will be debarred from appearing in subsequent P.G. Entrance Examination of the State until he/she completes and passes the examination of the course to which he/she has been admitted but will be eligible to appear in the subsequent examination if he/she resigns from the said course and his/her resignation has been accepted by the Principal of Medical College before the notification for the subsequent examination is issued and refunds the full amount of salary/stipend received by him/her during the said course.
(v)The Entrance Examination for admission to all courses for 2002 shall be held on 27th January 2002 (Sunday) at Lucknow.
- POST GRADUATE COURSES
(i)The M.D./M.S course shall be of 3 years duration.
(ii)The Diploma course shall be of 2 years duration.
(iii)The M.D.S. course shall be of 2 1/2 years duration.
- ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The Competitive Entrance Examination shall be open to such candidates who : -
(i)have passed the M.B.B.S./B.D.S. examination from any of the above medical/dental colleges of
U. P.
(ii)are domicile of U.P. and have passed MBBS/BDS examination from other state medical /dental colleges and were admitted through 15% All India Quota (Vide Supra).
(iii)have completed/will be completing Rotatory Compulsory Internship by Ist May 2002
(iv)A candidate who is already admitted to any post graduate course in colleges, mentioned in A(i) will not be eligible to appear in the U.P.P.G.M.E.E.-2002 for admission in any other speciality till he/she completes the course and passes the examination.
- SCOPE OF EXAMINATION, EVALUATION & ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
The Competitive Entrance Examination for MD, MS, DIPLOMA and MDS course shall consist of two written papers as follows: -
(a)PAPER-I: shall consist of 150 questions in pre and para-clinical subjects. It shall be of two hours duration and shall carry maximum of 600 marks.
(b)PAPER-II: shall consist of 150 questions in clinical subjects. It shall be of two hours duration and carry maximum of 600 marks.
(c)All the questions in Paper I and Paper II will be objective type with multiple (1,2,3,4) choice of which only one will be the most appropriate response and, therefore, the correct choice. Each answer with correct choice shall be awarded FOUR marks. ZERO marks shall be given to no response. ONE mark will be deducted for each wrong response. More than one choice indicated against a question shall be considered as incorrect response and ONE mark will be deducted for each wrong response.
(d)Candidate should be careful while filling the circle for answer in the box provided in the Answer Sheet. Use only black or blue ball point pen for filling the circle. There is no possibility of change. Filling of more than one circle in any question will be considered as incorrect and will be negatively marked. A dot or any other mark title X , etc. along with your answer will lead to incorrect response. Some examples of correct and incorrect responses are given below.

(f)General category candidates shall have to secure a minimum of 50% marks and the Reserved Category candidates a minimum of 40% marks in order to qualify for admission to a postgraduate medical/dental course.
(g)Candidate eligible in the reserved category will be given admission as per rules of the State Government, applicable till the last date fixed for receipt of application.
E.APPLICATION FORM
(1)A candidate seeking admission to the competitive entrance examination is required to send his/her application on the prescribed form appended to the information brochure. A candidate should not fill in more than one form for the UPPGMEE-2002
(2)Before filling up the application form the candidate must familiarise himself/herself with the information given in this brochure.
(3)Every detail must be filled in by the candidate in his/her own handwriting. All answers must be given in words and not by dashes or dots. No column should be left blank. Where a column is not applicable, mention ‘N.A’.
(4)Incomplete application form shall be rejected.
(5)Candidates must affix two passport size photographs in the space provided on the application form and computer record sheet. The candidates who have completed their internship can get their photographs attested by a gazetted officer. Those who are still pursuing their internship programme shall get their photographs attested by the Principal of their respective institutions.
(6)Furnishing of false information or suppression of any information would disqualify the candidate from the competitive entrance examination/admission and cancellation of admission if already admitted. If considered necessary, legal action may also be taken against such a candidate.
(7)Application form of the candidates, who are likely to complete internship on or before
May 01, 2002 has to be countersigned by the Principal of the medical/dental college from where the candidate has passed the M.B.B.S/B.D.S examination, in the forwarding note column.
(8)Candidates employed elsewhere must give a ‘no objection certificate’ signed from the employer for appearing in the entrance examination failing which they shall not be allowed to appear.
(9)The application form must be accompanied with:
(a)Attested photocopy of High School pass certificate as proof of date of birth.
(b)Attested photocopy of the mark-sheets of the professional examinations of M.B.B.S/B.D.S.
(c)Attested photocopy of provisional/permanent medical/dental registration of the MCI/DCI/ U.P. State Medical/Dental Council.
(d)Attested photocopy of the compulsory rotatory internship certificate.
(e)Eligible candidates belonging to reserve category, must submit a certificate on the attached proforma certified by any competent authority. In case the certificate is not as per prescribed proforma the benefit of reservation shall not be allowed.
(f)Attested photocopy of MBBS/BDS Passing-Out Certificate of Degree.
(g)Domicile Certificate on prescribed proforma (for only those candidates who have passed MBBS/BDS from medical colleges of other States).
(h)Proof of admission in medical colleges of other states through 15% All India Quota.
(10)Application complete in all respects should reach the Director-Coordinator, UPPGMEE-2002, SGPGIMS, Raebareli Road, Lucknow-226014 either by registered post/by postal speed post or at the designated counter of the Office of the Director-Coordinator, UPPGMEE-2002, SGPGIMS, Lucknow latest by 15.12.2001.
(11)Application forms with late fee of Rs.100/- should reach by 25th December 2001. No application will be received after 5:00 p.m. on 25th December 2001.
(12)Candidates are required to fill in their Name and complete address in the space provided in the envelope for sending the Admit Card by Registered Post, and also paste stamps of Rs.30/- on the face of the envelope.
F.COMPETITIVE POST GRADUATE MEDICAL ENTRANCE EXAMINATION-2002
(1)The post graduate medical entrance examination of 2002 will be held on 27.1.2002 at Lucknow.
(2)Admit card will be sent to all eligible candidates on their postal address by 15th January 2002. The Director-Coordinator, UPPGMEE-2002 shall not be responsible for non-receipt or delay of admit cards due to loss in transit or any other ground. Admit card will not be sent to ineligible candidates and no correspondence in this regard shall be entertained nor shall their fees be refunded.
(3)However, if due to any reason the candidate fails to receive the Admit Card till 24th January, 2002, the eligible candidates can get a provisional Admit Card issued from the Director-Coordinator, on 25th January, 2002 between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Such candidates must bring one attested copy of the same photograph which he has affixed with the application form.
(4)Entry to the examination hall will be restricted to candidates in possession of Admit Card issued by the Director-Coordinator, UPPGMEE-2002.
(5)Examination of Paper-1 will commence at 11:00 A.M. and that of Paper-II at 2:00 P.M. on 27th January, 2002. Candidates must reach their center atleast 30 minutes before the commencement of the examination. No candidate will be allowed in the examination center 15 minutes after the commencement of the examination.
(6)Venue/Center will be communicated through the Admit Card.
(7)Objections if any regarding any question in the question paper may be filed within three days of the examination i.e. till 5 p.m. on 30.01.2002, to the Director-Coordinator of UPPGMEE-2002.
G.RESULT AND SELECTION
(1)Candidates who secure a minimum of 50% marks in case of General Category and 40% marks in case of Reserve Category, in the UPPGMEE-2002 shall be eligible for admission to postgraduate Medical/Dental course.
(2)Inter se merit of candidates obtaining equal marks shall be determined in order of preference as under:
(a)Candidate obtaining higher marks in Paper II of the UPPGMEE-2002. If obtained equal marks then:
(b)Candidate obtaining higher average aggregate percentage of marks in all professional exams.
(c)According to age i.e. older getting preference over younger (for all courses).
(3)Merit List (Combined and Category-wise) of eligible candidates for admission to the postgraduate medical course shall be declared/published by the Director-Coordinator, UPPGMEE-2002, in the newspaper Dainik Jagran (All U.P. and Delhi Edition) and shall also be displayed at the Office of the Director-Coordinator at Lucknow and Director General, Medical Education, Lucknow. The copy of result will also be sent to Principals of U.P. State Medical Colleges & K.G.M.C, Lucknow and also on the website of the institute(
(4)The allotment of course/college to the eligible candidates shall be made by the Admission Committee under Chairmanship of Director General, Medical Education and Training, U.P. on personal appearance of the candidate as per his/her merit and choice of course. The date and place of counseling shall be notified through press and notice boards of the medical colleges. No intimation will be sent individually to the candidates. It will be responsibility of the eligible candidate to check these dates and appear for counseling for allotment of course/college. The candidate will have to deposit a fee of Rs.200/- at the time of counseling. All available seats in different courses and colleges shall be displayed along with its recognition status at the time of counseling. The candidate may choose any one of the available seat according to their merit. A seat once allotted to a candidate for any course/college shall be final and the candidate shall not be allowed to participate in any subsequent counseling.
(5)In case a candidate is unable to appear for counseling in person, he/she can send his/her representative with an authority letter on the prescribed proforma for allotment. The allotment made to the authorised representative shall be binding on the candidate. The proforma can be obtained from the office of the Principals of all Medical Colleges of U.P. Authority on any other form will not be accepted. It will be necessary for the authorised person to bring original documents of the candidate for obtaining allotment. One person can represent only one candidate.
(6)After allotment of the seat, candidates who fail to join the course within the specified period, shall forfeit the right of admission and the security.
(7)Candidates who are absent or do not wish to opt for a seat in any course or college, amongst the seats available at their merit shall remain eligible for allotment in subsequent counseling.
(8)Candidates willing to opt for a course will have to deposit a Bank Drat of Rs.2500/-(Two thousand five hundred only) in favor of “Director General, Medical Education & Training” payable at SBI, Jawahar Bhawan Branch, Lucknow as Security Money and the same will be returned to the candidate after he/she takes admission. Those who do not join or leave the course after allotment/admission will forfeit their claim of refund of security deposit.
H.ADMISSION
Admission of candidates shall be made by the Principal of the concerned college:
(1)Admission of candidate, after joining, remains absent continuously for 10 days without any intimation, it will be presumed that he/she is not interested in pursuing the course and the seat shall be treated as vacant and allotted to the other eligible candidate on the basis of merit.
(2)A candidate who has qualified for admission to a postgraduate course shall have to deposit the prescribed fee on the date notified for the purpose in the respective medical college. Those who fail to do so will loose their claim for admission in the course and in subsequent counseling.
(3)Admission shall be given only after the candidate produce the original copy of the following at the office of the Principal of concerned Medical College.
(a)High School Certificate as proof of date of birth
(b)Mark sheets of all professional Examination.
(c)MBBS/BDS passing out certificates or degree certificates
(d)Compulsory Rotary Internship completion certificate
(e)Permanent Registration Certificate (U.P. State/M.C.I./D.C.I.)
(f)Employer's relieving certificate, if employed
(g)S.C./S.T./O.B.C. Certificate, If applicable
(h)Allotment letter, issued by Chairman admission Board of UPPGMEE-2002
(i)Admit Card of UPPGMEE-2002
(j)Domicile Certificate and Proof of admission through 15% all India quota (only those candidates who passed MBBS/BDS from medical/dental colleges of other states)
(4)Candidates shall be required to complete the admission formalities and join the course assigned to them within specified period.
