HANDICAP TOURNAMENT

TOURNAMENT RULES

1.  Entry is open to all members of the Mississippi State USBC WBA who are 50 years of age or older at the time of participation in the state competition.

2.  Tournament will consist of a singles event. A total of six games will be bowled. Three games will be bowled on each day.

3.  Entrants may compete only once in the event. Bowler must be within the age division at the time she bowls.

4.  Handicap will be 90% of 200.

5.  Bowler’s entering average will be:

A.  Highest average in one league as of the end of the previous winter season scheduled for at least 21 games. (Substitute averages will count).

B.  If no average from last year, the highest current average in one league as of opening date of tournament for at least 12 games.

C.  Bowlers with neither of these averages must bowl scratch.

D.  USBC rules 319a-2 and 319d and 319e do not apply; but 319a-3 does apply.

E.  Averages must be established in leagues sanctioned through the Mississippi State USBC Women’s Bowling Association.

6.  Closing date for entries will be October 15th, 2014. Substitutes after this date will be allowed only with a written letter of release from the original entrant and an average verification from the local Association Manager. If the substitute has no letter of release, she must pay the entry fee for that position to Mississippi State USBC WBA prior to the time she bowls. Mississippi State USBC WBA in turn will reimburse the original entrant.

7.  NO ENTRY FEES WILL BE REFUNDED AFTER THE CLOSING DATE FOR ACCEPTING ENTRIES.

8.  All prize money will be returned 100% in a ratio of at least one prize for each five entries.

9.  Non-members can qualify for entry by purchasing an Associate Membership card for $21.00 (USBC rule 300c-2).

10.  The first place handicap winner will be declared champion of the Magic Age Tournament and her entry fee will be paid for the National Seniors Tournament. A separate record of the standings in each of the six age classes will be provided in order to qualify the top bowler in each category for national competition. Qualifiers in the six age categories, other than the champion, will be required to pay their own entry fee to Mississippi State USBC WBA who, will forward the fee to USBC. If the champion in any division is unable or declines to attend the National event, another one from that division who has marked “yes” they would like to attend, will be contacted beginning with highest score..

11.  In case of a tie for the championship, the overall champion will be the bowler having the highest three game series with handicap. If a tie still exists, then a decision will be made based on the following order: (1) the bowler having the highest series with handicap on Saturday (2) the bowler having the highest game with handicap on Saturday (3) the bowler having the highest series with handicap on Sunday (4) the bowler having the highest game with handicap on Sunday.

12.  All cell phones MUST be turned off during tournament play.

13.  The Tournament Director shall decide any question not covered by these rules unless an appeal is made in accordance with USBC rule 329.
