Re:Request for Extension of Comments and Workshop on
FCC Intercarrier Compensation –
Docket No. M-00061972
Dear Mr. Delaney:
This letter acknowledges and replies to your August 31, 2006 filing (the Extension Request) regarding the pending deadlines on the filing of Comments and the scheduled workshop on the Missoula Plan. This Extension Request asks the Commission to move the deadline for filing comments from September 5, 2006 to September 19, 2006. The Extension Request also asks the Commission to reschedule the September 11, 2006 workshop to the first week of October 2006. The Extension Request was filed in response to an August 29 decision in which the FCC extended the Comment and Reply Comment on the MissoulaPlan at CC Docket No. 01-92.
Upon consideration, the Commission denies the Extension Request. However, the late filing of Comments and Presentations after the September 5, 2006 deadline will not jeopardize participation in the September 11, 2006 Workshop. Interested participants may also file placeholder comments with an outline of key points by September 5, 2006 if they wish to file timely.
Moreover, the Commission reserves the right to contact the stakeholders with follow-up questions. Interested parties that want to provide further information or details after the Workshop may file such materials with the Commission at this Docket by September 22, 2006. Finally, to facilitate the scheduling of presenters at the Workshop, anyone planning to participate who is unable to timely file comments or an outline of key points should notify ALJ Kandace F. Melillo at and Joseph Witmer, Esq. at in the Law Bureauno later than September7, 2006.
The Commission will arrange for the posting of the initial and any additional presentations and information from interested parties (with non-proprietary content) related to the Missoula Plan and the Workshop on the Commission's website.
All presentations or testimony must preferably be in Word format although Word Perfect or Adobe may be used as well. Each Commissioner’s office must receive two hard copies of any request and presentation. An electronic version must be provided to Administrative Law Judge Kandace F. Melillo at and Joseph Witmer, Esq. at in the Law Bureau. An electronic and hard copy of the presentation materials must also be filed with the Commission’s Secretary.
Any questions regarding the workshop should be directed to ALJ Kandace F. Melillo at (717) 787-3788 or Joe Witmer, Esq. in the Law Bureau at 717-787-3663.
To the extent that this Extension Request constitutes the filing of a Formal Petition under Section 5.41(a) of the Commission’s Rules of Practice and Procedure, the Extension Request is hereby granted in part and denied in part consistent with this Secretarial Letter.
Sincerely,
James J. McNulty,
Secretary
