Marketing Internship Job Description:

The Columbian is seeking an energetic, reliable, creative Marketing Intern to assist the Executive Director and Marketing/Retail Specialist in promoting the fall/winter season productions, gallery exhibits and events. This is an intensive, fun-filled, and creative 14 week project where intern will work with a designer, printers, and the press to create and implement the fall/winter season marketing plan. Duties and activities include maintenance of media database, research and development of new relationships with local/regional print/electronic media, online market research, and Columbian twitter feed support as well as facebook. This is a 15 hour a week internship. The intern is expected to be available 3 days a week for 5 hours each day. The successful applicant will receive a $35 stipend for every day they work. They will report directly to the Executive Director. The internship is 14 weeks in length and runs between September 2ndandDecember 6th.

Marketing Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning, implementation and evaluation of all Foundation marketing, promotions, public relations and communications
  • Communicating with target audiences and managing customer relationships
  • Maintaining and updating customer database(s)
  • Managing the production of marketing materials including pamphlets, flyers, posters, programs, newsletters and e-newsletters, etc.
  • Arranging for the effective distribution of marketing materials
  • Liaising with designers and printers as well as proofreading copy
  • Maintaining media lists, e-communications, press releases, etc.
  • Maintaining the Foundations websites for clarity and effectiveness of content as well as a Facebook and Twitter account.
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with media, the community and sponsors
  • In addition to the duties associated with marketing/publicity, the intern may have front-of-house dutiesthat include:
  • Interacting with patrons.
  • Conducting merchandise sales (when needed).
  • Answering phone calls

Qualifications:

  • Intern must possess excellent verbal, written and communicative skills
  • Intern must possess excellent internet research skills
  • Intern must be proficient in Publisher, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Compensation:
$105weekly gas stipend for a 15-hour workweek (3 days a week, 5 hours a day), paid biweekly.
