Band Grading Policy (as found in the PORTA Central Handbook)

Band is a performance-oriented class offered to 5th & 6th grade only. Grades will be based on prepared lessons, bringing your instrument to class, practice, and mandatory performances. ALL CONCERTS AND CONTESTS ARE MANDATORY. Students have a commitment to the band, and their absence from a concert or contest impacts the whole band and its performance. Grades will be lowered one letter grade for each unexcused concert or contest absence. If a student is unable to attend, they must notify the band instructor before the concert, either by note or phone call.

We have read and understand the expectations for 6th grade band.
