THANK YOU to Mel and Mikey Alsop and Lauren, Rob and Isabel Venables for taking on the big job of painting Penny’s room. It has really brightened up the space and we can now work toward relocating the library. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

YOUNG LEADERS DAY

Year 6 students travelled to Sydney on 29th February to participate in the Young Leaders Event. All students enjoyed the experience and were inspired by motivational speakers on the day. Students are working on recounting their day and preparing a speech to present to the class. Thank you to Meredith and Lil Clancy for providing transport and supervision.

‘ PLACES’

The Junior class are learning about ‘PLACES’ in HSIE this term. Students have created illustrations of family members who live in their home, illustrated and written descriptions of their bedroom and sent letters to themselves using their home address. The students have learned about how our street address and postcode help to identify where we live. They are also quite fascinated by the idea that a letter sent from the Goulburn Post Office can arrive in their very own mailbox! The students purchased their own stamp and dropped their letter in the big red post box.

CANBERRA EXCURSION All students are required to wear full school uniform for excursion including suitable foot wear. They will also need to bring a packed lunch, morning tea and water bottle. Please ensure all items are clearly labelled and students bring a compact bag that they are able to manage themselves.

Lunchboxes and Drink Bottles

Teachers have noticed some heathy lunch boxes being brought to school which is fantastic. Please continue in your efforts to ensure your child/ren have a healthy selection of food to get them through the day. A number of students are still forgetting drink bottles. A water bottle is necessary each day as we play across the road and students don’t have access to the kitchen. Many students are refilling their bottles regularly throughout the day which is great especially on hot days.

PARENT INFORMATION SESSION-READING

Catherine Hoskin from The AIS (Association of Independent Schools) will be visiting to talk to parents/staff about the importance of reading and tips to assist on Wednesday 6th April. Teachers will participate in a Professional Development Session in the afternoon and Junior teachers will also attend the parent session. Catherine Harborne is available to supervise students for the duration of the parent session. We hope that all parents can attend.

PARENT/TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Parent/teacher interviews will be conducted before the end of term. Please indicate on the form provided preferred days and times. The interviews will consist of a 10-15 minute meeting with your child/ren’s teacher/s to discuss each child’s progress. We encourage all parents to attend as this is a valuable form of communication between parents and staff regarding student performance at school.

POLICY REVIEW

Please review the following policy carefully and forward any queries/questions in writing to the school before the next parent meeting for discussion.
