School Caretaker Job Description
Responsibilities (either directly, jointly or through devolved structures)
- To uphold the ethos and values of the school at all times
- Check the School Calendar for each day on arrival for notice of events
- Check the caretaker folder in the School Office on arrival
- Report to Site Manager for details of any requirements - Setting up for events to be given priority
- To ensure that any matters relating to Health and Safety are addressed as a priority
- To set up the appropriate areas and facilities for school events as required
- Clear School Office and Entrance Hall of deliveries
- Tidy round and replace toilet rolls, hand towels and hand wash
- Sweep and mop floor of the dining areas as necessary
- Clear kitchen rubbish into bin store
- Clear site of litter, clean floors and entrance areas as necessary
- Deliver any lost property to the appropriate areas
- Empty rubbish bins and clean windows as necessary
- Wash and dry kitchen towels as required
- General furniture check and repair or request replacements
- General locker check and repair
- General building maintenance as required
- Landscaping and sport field line marking as required
- Check Bin Store and make sure it is presentable
- Supervise movement in car park for school events as required
- Liaise with the housekeeper and cleaners as necessary
- Help with site security and lock up. Turn off heaters and computers. Ensure windows are closed and fire exits clear
- It is expected that the Caretaker will be ‘On Call’ by radio at all times whilst on duty
- Assist with evening and weekend events as required (time in lieu to be given as needed)
