Expedition Kit List (Walking)
Based on a weekend expedition

1 x Set clothes & trainers / For travelling there & home, + changes of underwear
1 x Jumper / Fleece / To keep warm (pile jacket)
2 x T-shirts / Polyester type, not cotton, (sports shirt)
2 x Walking trousers / include shorts for good weather / No denim jeans (Lonsdale Polyester type Trackies are ok)
2 x Thin cotton sock / 1000 mile recommended, though cotton mix socks are ok
2 x Thick walking socks / Must cover the ankle & higher than the boot
Hat & Gloves / Complete head cover. Season: shade or warmth for ears
Walking boots with ankle support “No trainers” / Waterproof / Gortex lined if possible
Thick bin liners & freezer bags / Used as waterproof liners, clothes, sleeping bag etc
Water bottle / bladder / 2x1L Bottles are better than 1x2L, (Detachment issue ok)
Sleeping bag, Bivi bag & small Inflatable pillow / Normally 2 season bag will do, Bivi bag & pillow optional
Roll mat / Detachment issue is ok
Wash bag & Towel / Basic: T/Brush + paste, Small Shower-gel, razor, etc
Head torch + Hand torch / Spare batteries. If only buying one buy the head torch
Personal medication / Must be declared on your FFI Form
K/F/Spn, Metal Flask / Mug, Pans/Mess Tins / Detachment issue Mess-tins & Mug / Water bottle are ok
Lighter / Spare matches
Notepad & pen / Spare pen
Sun cream / Minimum factor 20

This is a generic kit list and cadets must always refer to the Warning Order specific to their Expedition. Some of the “Cadet to supply” kit may be available for loan from the QM Stores, please discuss your requirements with your expedition leader, and allow plenty of time for items to be booked on your behalf. All personal kit used in place of the course supplied kit must be presented for inspection to a member of the expedition staff before leaving. Cadet boots must be suitable for the expedition terrain, so check with your expedition leader prior to your expedition if you are intending to wear cadet boots to ensure that they will be suitable. Failure to bring suitable kit may result in cadets being sent home.
