Thank you for your interest in the upcoming Fairmont Winter Cheer Fest Competition. This is the best place for your team to gain experience for larger events, meet new teams, create lifelong friendships and prepare for the next level in cheer and dance.
The Fairmont Winter Cheer Fest will be held for the first time in Robeson County at Fairmont Middle School! After much interest in all divisions, the competition will continue to be an eventful day. Several divisions have been added to emphasize the strength of the competing teams at their skill levels. The tentative date is set for January 20, 2018.

Judging:
Prior to competition, coaches will have the opportunity to meet with a certified judging panel to go over any last minute questions they may have. The head judge and coordinators will be available for a post-competition debriefing. This will allow for any further education coaches may need, answers to questions about routines and knowledge to upcoming events.
Spectators:
Doors will be open one hour before competition to spectators. (Coaches and teams will be allowed to check in at an earlier time, which will be specified one week before competition, to allow for warm-ups) All spectators are expected to follow the cheerleading code of ethics throughout the competition. Entry for the competition is $6.00. Concessions and local vendors will be available for your convenience.
Order of Appearance:
The order of appearance will be sent out one week prior to competition. Estimated warm-up times and performance times will be listed in the schedule. Please note that the order of appearance can change at any time. All participants will be notified in advance.

Rules and Regulations:
· All stunts and tumbling must be performed on the matted competition
surface. Out of bounds is not recognized unless the tumbling pass ends or
the stunt is performed off the mat.
· Each team will be responsible for providing someone to play music for all routines.
· Teams will follow the National Federal of State High School Associations (NFHS) Safety Guidelines.
· Competitors will compete on a 42 x 54 Cheer Floor.
· Timing of the routine will begin with the first ORGANIZED movement, unison voice beat of music. Timing ends with the last ORGANIZED movement, unison voice beat of music. Entrances and exits are permitted and not timed. Performances must begin with each participant having at least one foot/hand on the floor. Both feet leaving the performing surface constitutes the beginning of a routine.
· Routines may not exceed 2 minutes, 30 seconds and music portion is not limited.
· All choreography should be age and audience appropriate. Inappropriate moves or music could result in penalties at the judges’ discretion.
· Sportsmanship is the key to any good athletic event or competition. Any participant, team parent, coach or spectator displaying unsportsmanlike conduct could result in penalty for the team or disqualification. The clause is in effect from the time of arrival until the time of departure for the event.
· Performance Interruption:
* If a performance is interrupted due to failure of event equipment, facilities, etc., the team affected will be allowed to present its routine from the beginning.
* It a performance is interrupted due to failure of the team’s equipment, supplies, etc., the team must either continue the performance, withdraw from the competition or may be offered to restart by the Competition coordinator with a penalty against the final score.
* Should an injury cause the interruption, the team must either continue, withdraw from the competition or may be allowed to restart by the Competition Coordinator resulting with a penalty against the final score.

WAIVER AND RELEASE
The undersigned contestant/participant, in consideration of being allowed to participate in Cheerleading competition/activities, by the execution of this release and waiver, does hereby release Fairmont Winter Fest and Fairmont Middle School, its employees, agents, volunteers and successors, from all liability for personal injuries or other damages and loss caused, or occasioned, by participation in any contest, exhibition, and show sponsored or allowed by the aforementioned corporation, during, or pendant to, the annual Fairmont Winter Fest. The undersigned also further agrees to inspect any and all venues, premises and equipment prior to participation, to determine that the same is/are safe and satisfactory for the activity contemplated, and to immediately make known any defect, inadequacy or unsafe condition to a competition official before engaging in any activity thereon/therewith. The Waiver and Release is executed with full understanding and knowledge of its content and legal effect, and the undersigned participant/contestant freely and voluntarily assumes the risk of participation in the event by the execution of this document.

We ask that you sign below that you agree to comply with the rules and regulations set forth by the All County Cheerleading and Dance Coordinators, the NFHS, the AACCA and any additional guidelines that may be placed to ensure a successful season.
