Reports to: Business Systems Manager / Pay Band/Starting Salary: Band E : £27,508 pro rata
Location: Hermiston Quay, 5 Cultins Road, Edinburgh, EH11 4DF / Type of Contract: Full-time/Fixed term contract until 31 March 2018
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To provide support and expertise in ensuring IT systems are maintained and available to the Business within agreed Service Level Agreements. To work closely with external service providers in order to provide server support, network support, desktop support and help resolve day to day IT operational issues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
s Infrastructure administration (including backup, security management, user account management, e-mail, Internet access, office systems and application support);
s Server 2008 and 2012 support, maintenance and configuration. MCP certified (Installing and configuring Windows Server 2012)
s Network and desktop hardware, software and applications.
s Full administration of Active Directory and MS Exchange.
s Working knowledge and administration of Backup technologies (Arcserve)
s Awareness of SAN technologies.
s Virtualisation experience.
s Administration of Microsoft office applications
s Perform technology needs analysis;
s Project lead for hardware and software infrastructure roll out. Ensure optimal deployment of resources, planning, managing and scheduling of full hardware refresh.
s Working knowledge of Apple Macs and associated software (JAMF). Project lead in purchase, configuration and administration of all Apple devices.
s Exposure to system centre and full involvement in the image capture and deployment process.
s Support ICT projects and activities in line with the ICT strategy;
s Assist with technology planning through ongoing research;
s Provide infrastructure support as required operating within agreed service levels.
s Knowledge of ITIL procedures and practices. ITIL v3 foundation certified.
The current duties of this job do not require the post holder to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme, which replaces the ‘Enhanced Disclosure’ check and is administered by Disclosure Scotland.

Technical Knowledge & Qualifications
s Must have solid demonstrable experience in applying their technical knowledge across a number of contexts to be able to give sound, measured advice and support to users.
People Management
s No direct line management, but the post-holder will work closely with end-users across the Trust, other specialist departments and external service providers /contractors.
Financial Management
s Whilst not a revenue budget holder, the post-holder may be responsible for the delivery against budget of specific capital projects and maintenance activities;
s The post holder may be required to use Trust financial systems for the purposes of expenses and/or raising POs.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
s Preferably educated to degree level in IT related discipline, however, an HNC/D with relevant experience will be considered. Any relevant MCP/MCSA qualification is desirable; ITIL v3 foundation is desirable;
s Technically competent, analytical, with a good awareness of recent developments/trends in IT;
s Good customer care skills and ability to communicate in a clear and concise way with users at all levels;
s Good team player with excellent interpersonal and report writing skills and must be able to prioritise issues in a timely manner;
s Able to work on own initiative requiring only minimal supervision;
s Resourceful, resilient and taking ownership/responsibility for specific projects. Able to show a high level of commitment and loyalty;
s Fast learner, with the ability to familiarise with applications and systems used across the Trust.
s The ability to use a service desk, log calls, track calls, informs the customer of progress and close out the call.
s Adhere to the Trusts change management procedures.
Desirable:
s Networking support – Cisco, VPN, firewall;
s Application packaging experience;
s Terminal services;
s Citrix;
s General understanding of the heritage environment, and the particular challenges and opportunities of the charity /”not for profit” sector.
