PTC Safety Bonus Plan
The safety bonus will be paid weekly at the rate of five percent (5%) of driver load pay. Drivers will be rewarded for safe performance as measured in five (5) critical areas as noted below. Safe periods will be measured monthly. If a driver does not safely perform based on the five critical areas, the driver will lose the safety bonus for the next month. Provided the driver performs safely, the bonus will be reinstated the following month. Drivers will receive driver scorecards documenting their performance on a monthly basis. Scorecards will be distributed the first week of each month.
Five Critical Areas of Performance Measurement
- Speed. Speed gauge technology will be used to measure drivers following posted speed limits with a 7 mph margin of error. Drivers spending 90% or more of driving time following posted speeds will receive a 100% rating in this area. Drivers speeding more than 10% will receive a 0% rating.
- Safe Days. Drivers with a full month of safe days will receive a 100% rating in this category. Safe days are defined as days without the following:
- A preventable spill
- A preventable collision
- A Mix or Contamination
- A DOT inspection that noted driver controlled deficiencies
- A moving violation in CMV
- Observation of talking on cell phone while driving
- Lost time due to a work injury
- A loading error regardless of whether caught at rack
- Incident caused by lack of adherence to PTC procedures (eg. delivering fuel to wrong store)
- Participation inPTC’s Safety Training Program. Drivers are expected to participate in 100% of safety training programs offered monthly. Training sessions will be available 24/7 online. Each session will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Assignments will be made each month and drivers will have until the end of the month to complete training sessions. Generally, two (2) to four (4) training sessions will be assigned to a driver each month but may increase if remedial training is mandated. Drivers must score 100% on tests at the end of training sessions to achieve a 100% rating in this category. Failure to participate and score 100% on the test results in a 0% rating in this category.
- Observations. Unloading, loading and driving observations will be part of the overall safety bonus calculation. Drivers observed following PTC policies and procedures will receive a 100% rating in this category. Drivers observed not following policies and procedures will receive a 0% rating in this category after allowance for a one time review of unloading policies and procedures via the PTC online training video (per 12-month period).
- Load Paperwork. Review of driver load paperwork will be done as a part of the overall safety bonus plan. Driver paperwork observed following PTC policies and procedures will receive a 100% rating in this category. Bills of lading, Delivery Reports/Loadsheets and other customer required forms will be reviewed to ensure PTC policies and procedures are followed. Drivers observed not completing paperwork accurately and completely will receive a 0% rating in this category, after allowance for a one time review of paperwork procedures via the PTC online training (per 12-month period).
