Patients

APPOINTMENTS
All surgeries are by appointment, and can be made in person, by telephone or online (GP only online).
If you are unable to attend for your appointment please let us know so that we can offer this to another patient.
URGENT APPOINTMENTS
We will still have urgent appointments each day.
(Urgent appointments are not for Repeat Prescriptions, fitness for work certificates or for signing forms).
ONLINE ACCESS
You can book a GP appointment, order repeat prescriptions and access your summary medical record online - please contact the surgery for a username and password. Please bring ID, e.g. passport, driving licence.
NURSE/HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT
We have a Nurse or HCA available every day, morning and afternoon who can deal with all minor ailments.
HOW TO REGISTER AS A PATIENT
If you are new to the area and need to register please ask at Reception. You will be required to have a new patient check to complete your registration. An appointment will be offered with our HCA during your registration.
ALLOCATED NAMED GP
Your allocated named GP is Dr McAnsh who, as senior partner, is responsible for your overall care. However, you can see whichever GP you prefer.
HOME VISITS
Home visits should only be requested for those who are unable to come to the Surgery because of serious illness and infirmity. They should be requested before 10.30am if at all possible.
Whenever possible we prefer to see you at the Surgery; if you do not feel well enough to sit in the waiting room we can make alternative arrangements. Requests for visits after 10.30am will be taken by the Duty Doctor.
TELEPHONE ADVICE
All Doctors are available (normally between 11.00am and 12.00pm) to give telephone advice after their morning surgery. Patients are advised to telephone before 11.00am to arrange this.
PRESCRIPTIONS
ROUTINE— requests for repeats prescriptions will be dealt with within 48 hours. This can be in-person or by fax or by leaving it in the post box in the entrance. Repeat prescriptions can be ordered online – please contact the surgery for a username and password.
Patients who live out of town and are housebound can request repeat prescriptions by telephone after midday.
URGENT-requests for urgent prescriptions will be ready to be collected by 5pm the same day, but please try to request these in person.
DISPENSARY
If you are registered with the practice and live outside Wells you will be able to obtain your prescription from the surgery between 8am and 6pm. Please allow 48 hours for any repeat medications from the dispensary. The dispensary is open Monday-Friday 8am-6pm.
CHAPERONES
All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation. Please request this at the time of booking or speak to your GP
OUT OF HOURS
If you have a problem when the surgery is closed you can call 111 for non-emergency advice.
In an emergency please ring 999.

Automatic Front Door Access suitable for wheelchairs. Disabled toilets in the waiting room.

The Practice is involved with medical research.
We would value your co-operation with this, but we understand if you do not want to be involved.

All information held about patients is completely confidential. The Practice is registered under the Data Protection Act 1984. This Act protects data held on the computer system.
