OJIBWAY LANGUAGE PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR/COORDINATOR

Serpent River First Nation invites applications for the position of Ojibway Language Program Instructor/Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Language Program Instructor/Coordinator is primarily responsible for mobilizing Ojibway Language revitalization, retention, preservation, and oversight. To assist in creating, developing, and implementing program curriculum, as well as instructAnishinaabemowin Language.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Anishinaabemowin Language Teaching Certificate required. Secondary School Diploma/GED preferred.
- Fluent in Anishinaabemowin
- Experience in teaching adult learners
Knowledge Requirements
- Knowledge and understanding of Anishnawbek culture, traditions, and customs
- Knowledge and understanding of community inclusion
- Knowledge and understanding of community development and comprehensive strategy development
Special Skills and Abilities:
- Strong leadership and Coordination Skills
- Create language resources to aid language instruction
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- High level of initiative and self-direction
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to meet deadlines
Other Requirements:
- Must have a valid Ontario Class “G” License, access to an vehicle
- Must be able to work flexible hours.
