With the new development of the Invitational Education Toolkit by the International Alliance for Invitational Education to support schools to train up their school personnel, I am pleased to inform you that the Executive Director of the International Alliance for Invitational Education,Joan R. Fretz is coming to offer training workshop in March 2017 for HK IE schools.

An Introduction to the Invitational Education Toolkit for Inviting School Award Applicants

The Invitational Education Toolkit is developed as a Step-by-Step guide to support your Inviting School Journey.This workshop is designed for schools that are new to Invitational Education or are working towards the Inviting School Award. Thenew Invitational Education Toolkitprovides your school with a step-by-step guide for involving staff, teachers, and parents in a journey towards creating an intentionally positive school, where everyone can realize their potential. The Toolkitbuilds on the unique traits and needs of each school, wherever its journey begins.

The twelve training steps of the Toolkit lead you along a continuum of Invitational growth and development, following the IE Helix. Each progressive step starts with a Power Point lesson for stakeholders. Resources include detailed facilitator notes, engaging video clips, printable handouts, training tips and collaboration opportunities for participants.

The Toolkit is designed so that any staff member can serve as the leader of the workshop. Every slide of the Power Point presentation includes a detailed script for the facilitator insuring that your school will make steady progress as you explore all components of Invitational Theory and Practice.

Participants in this half-day workshop will have opportunities to work with the first 8 steps of the Toolkit besides have a first-hand understand of how to use this powerful toolkit. .

Below is the information about the trainer:

Joan R. Fretz is the Executive Director of the International Alliance for Invitational Education, Co-Founder and Chair of the Long Island Social Emotional Literacy Forum, Affiliate Trainer for the Lions Quest Youth Development Program and a 36 year public school teacher and district administrator.

For the past 14 years, Joan has spearheaded the development of workshops, courses, and conferences on School Climate, Self-Concept, Intrinsic Motivation, and Social Emotional Learning for educators. Her goal is to help schools address two essential parts of school climate: skills for adults and skills for students.

Joan has worked closely with the State Education Department in New York, in its development of SEL Guidelines for New York State schools and served as the Dignity Act District Coordinator in Huntington Schools. In her role as the District Director of Fine and Performing Arts in Huntington, Joan was named, “Woman of the Year in the Arts,” by the Times of Huntington. Retired since 2013, Joan now devotes all of her professional energies to helping schools create an optimal learning environment in which all students and educators will realize their full potential.
