HHB Launches Low Cost CDR 850 CD Recorder At NAMM Convention

New from digital audio specialists HHB is the CDR850, a low cost CD recorder for use with both conventional write once CD-R media (not be confused with expensive consumer discs), and the new generation of CD-RW rewritable discs. Working in close consultation with professionals from music recording, mastering, DJs and broadcast, HHB have implemented an exceptionally comprehensive feature set, all menu selectable from the front panel, resulting in a "second generation" CD recorder that's ideally equipped for use in a wide range of professional audio applications, and very straightforward to use.

Housed in a 2u rackmount chassis with a new look, stylish, deep metallic purple front panel, the HHB CDR850's advanced functions include full control over copy prohibit status, fade in/out times, auto track increment level settings, auto stop delay, sample rate converter on/off and margin indicator.

Total flexibility is delivered by four separate recording modes: analogue, digital, and two modes of digital synchro recording. It is also possible to have the CDR850 automatically finalise a disc to Red Book standard at the end of a recording. When copying from another digital source, be it CD, DAT, MD, DCC or DVD, any index or track start information is reproduced perfectly on the recorded CD; even CD index points, as found on sampling CDs, are duplicated. And with the on-board sample rate converter, any unusual sample rates, including those resulting from varispeed, will be converted to the necessary 44.1kHz for the CD format.

The CDR850's wide range of professional signal interfaces is similarly uncompromising, supporting both balanced XLR and unbalanced phono analogue inputs and outputs, coaxial and optical digital inputs and outputs, and an AES/EBU digital input. Exceptional sound quality is assured by the use of high quality converters and high grade components throughout.

Commenting on the launch of the CDR850, HHB Managing Director, Ian Jones says: "HHB has established a position at the forefront of CD-R technology; first with a range of ultra-stable, high performance CD-R media; then with the CDR800, the first accessibly priced professional audio CD recorder. Now we've developed a low cost, professional CD recorder that's packed with the features and functions our customers tell us they really need, and it's still easy to use. From the home recording musician to major commercial facilities, the CDR850 will appeal to everyone who wants to produce their work on CD".
