JOB PROFILE
TITLE: Catering Assistant
RESPONSIBLE TO: Catering Manager
REPORTING TO: Catering Officer / Catering Supervisor
ROLE SUMMARY: To assist as required in all aspects of the catering function as designated. A detailed job specification for each task /duty will be contained in the Catering Operations Manual appropriate to each functional area.
KEY DUTIES:
1. Maintain the professional image of the catering function through good interpersonal skills with patients and staff.
2. Comply with current and future HACCP standards and Food Hygiene Regulations.
3. Ensure catering duties are carried out in accordance with the Catering Department’s Health and Safety operational manual.
4. Prepare and set up all foodstuffs and utensils as directed.
5. Ensure that food distribution trolleys and hot and colds foods are held at appropriate temperatures in accordance with ISO 340 standards.
6. Serve customers in dining areas and at ward level during service periods and when required
7. Clean and set out dining areas, and ancillary kitchens as required.
8. Clear away delph, utensils, and trays and wipe down tables and work surfaces during and after the service period.
9. Ensure delph, utensils and equipment are collected and properly cleaned and stored after meal service.
10. Stock and replenish ancillary kitchens, service points / vending machines as necessary.
11. Deep clean and sterilise ancillary kitchen and equipment within the catering area.
12. Undertake training and development activities consistent with the position.
13. Other duties appropriate to the post as assigned by the Catering Manager or his/ her deputies.
14. Be aware of and implement all Policies, Guidelines in relation to Infection Prevention and Control / Decontamination
15. Actively contribute, participate and ensure compliance with the key areas identified in the following:
Infection prevention and control / decontamination
National Quality/Hygiene Schemes
B.F.H.I.
And all audits deemed necessary by the Rotunda Hospital Management Team.
Note: These duties are a reflection of the present service requirements and may be subject to review and amendment to meet the changing needs of the Hospital.
