5:20- 5:35Discussion Items

  • Master Schedule-Hanson says we need to assess instructional issues before we adjust the schedule. Cam Lupiani says the block schedule is a major issue with teachers. The issue was put on hold but something needs to be communicated to the teachers. Hanson will engage with curriculum leaders.
  • Diversity Issues- Hanson says in regard to the protest issue, the kids had talked about this in advance. Fulton County came out and made an investigation and proved allegations to be false. The kids were looking for an apology. But for what? Hanson says it was about t-shirts. He turned this into a teaching moment and asked students,”How do you prevent your message from getting warped?” Hanson says we have some other positive things at the school like the Pep Rally on FOX 5 and the possibility of being the Game of the Week on the CBS affiliate.
