7.1 General objective of the discipline /
  • Acquiring the ability to solve urban problems as a balance between economic, social and cultural development, according to modern sustainable urban planning theories

7.2Specific objectives /
  • Acquaintance with the complex issues raised by modern methods and technologies, collaborative relationships required by this process, acquaintance with the factors that influence the decision process along with responsabilities what should be assumed
  • Acquiring the ability to identify and prioritise by importance the factors to be considered in decision-making.
  • Acquiring the capacity to interpret, mediate and explain the problems along the design process in relation to modern theories and the methods used.
  • Acquiring the capacity to use the knowledge gained in previous disciplines for the purposes of interpretation and explanation of problems posed by modern theories of urban planning.
  • Acquiring the ability to select relevant information from the bibliographical data.
  • Acquiring the ability to assess and issue judgements regarding selected information.
  • Acquiring the ability to propose appropriate constructive solutions and to rigorously justify the taken decisions.

10.6Minimum performance standard (minimum amount of knowledge necessary to pass the discipline and the way in which this knowledge is verified)
  • For grade 5, the student must identify at least the major issues raised by urban planning theories, must conceive devise solutions for their application, (minor mistakes are accepted, if the principle solution is correct)
  • For grade 10, the student must identify all of the issues raised by modern planning theories, must conceive solutions that would not diminish the quality of urban development, the design presentation to be without mistakes, to have the ability to properly and fully illustrates the applied theories.

The competencies listed in the National Register of Qualifications in Higher Education [Registrul Naţional al Calificărilor din Învăţământul Superior RNCIS] ( will be used for the field of study from 1.4 and the program of study from 1.6 of this form, involving the discipline.

[9] At least one title must belong to the department staff teaching the discipline, and at least 3 titles must refer to national and international works relevant for the discipline, and which can be found in the Politehnica University Library.
