Queensland Community Alliance - Administrative/Communications coordinator

The Queensland Community Alliance is recruiting for a part-time administrative and communications coordinator to work alongside two community organisers, three interns, and the 26 community organisations that make up our Alliance.

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced administrative coordinator to work 20 hours a week. The work roster is flexible, and could be adapted to fit around school hours. You would work out of our South Brisbane office. Your role will be work within a small team of Alliance staff and interns, to build the efficiency and followthrough of our community organising Alliance.

Candidate qualities

  1. Strong organisational capabilities, including the ability to track a range of projects and tasks, and to bring order to work that emerges out of participatory processes from a wide range of partners.
  2. Communications skills, including the ability to draft persuasive communication in plain English.
  3. Demonstrated experience with developing competency with new software platforms, such as Nationbuilder or other similar CRMs. Experience adapting software to administrative/ organising purposes a real plus.
  4. Appetite for continual learning, including learning about civil society organisations, community organising, and communication strategies for social change
  5. Ability to create and sustain public relationships with faith, union, community leaders from a wide range of backgrounds.
  6. Commitment to values at the basis of community organising, including social justice, public action, participation in civil society organisations and holding decisionmakers to account for the common good.

Role description

Administrative coordination.

•Working with the Lead Organiser to manage reporting and task management for team meetings

•Minute taking at quarterly Board Meetings, Leaders Council meetings

•Diary management of Alliance meetings, including liaising with administrative officers of partner organisations.

•Venue booking and liaison for retreats, two day training and six day training, and followup of RSVPs for training.

•Followup of RSVPs for Alliance District meetings

Communications and Social Media for Alliance

•Working in partnership with Alliance Communications team to produce and edit Alliance promotional material.

•Pulling together monthly e-newsletter

•Updating Alliance website

•Maintaining social media accounts for Alliance networks.

Data and CRM database management

•Data entry following events/listening processes

•Developing capacity to eventually train and coordinating Data team within Alliance partner organisations.

•Working with Alliance partners online RSVP/turnout coordination for Large Alliance events.

Volunteer and intern liaison

•Providing administrative induction for Alliance interns

•Working with interns and administrative volunteers to coordinate completion of administrative tasks.
