Title-Blow a Bigger Bubble

Problem: What brands of gum produce the biggest bubbles?

Introduction:Have you ever had a competition with your friend with blowing the biggest bubble? Lately I’ve become addicted to gum. I don’t usually blow bubbles but I’m just curious…what brand makes the biggest bubbles?

Most of my information I got from Wrigley.com which is a subsidiary of mars incorporated. Wm Wrigley Jr. has been known for having different types of candy in his company like gum, lollipops and mints. Wrigley incorporated is one of the largest food companies in the world.

I also got some Info. From oldtimecandy.com which I thought was a very cute cite. It was good for information. It had the history of double bubble like when it was founded and who owned it. It was a very good source.

Hypothesis: I think that Double Bubble is going to make the biggest bubbles.

Procedure:

Take 3 people of each gender who think they are good at blowing bubbles.

Take Extra, Orbit, Juicy Fruit and Double Bubble and have each person chew the types of gum at different times.

Have each blow 3 bubbles of each brand of bubble gum.

Measure how long each bubble is in cm.


Materials:

3 girls

3 boys

Orbit

Juicy Fruit

Extra

Double Bubble

Yard stick/ measuring tape

Pencil

Paper

Computer

Independent Variable: Different brands of gum

Dependant Variable: Length of the bubble

Controlled(Constant) Variable: Equal number of girls and boys-same environment-

Conclusion-My hypothesis was that Double Bubble would have the largest average diameter. Actually it had the lowest diameter. Orbit ended up having the largest average diameter.

Possible causes of error- some people really didn’t try.-The different types of gum sometimes were smaller than the last so I doubled them to where they were the same size.-Some people are simply good at blowing bubbles and some aren’t.
