·  WSU Alert: Wright State emergency notification system—rave mobile safety; reliable voice; text message system, as well as feeds to Facebook/Twitter

·  Want to keep informed so that 100 % of people are getting information in the case of a crisis

·  Emergency Action Plan

·  Seasonal Weather Awareness- tornadoes or winter weather

·  Met the requirements for the Storm Ready Program

·  Storm Spotter class: next Friday & FREE! 2pm Nutter Center; Berry Room. Please send an email to identify yourself and you will be added to the roster. The NWS meteorologist will be doing the training.

·  Fairborn Fire/Greene County Health Department collaborations

·  Closed Point of Dispensing for case of a pandemic; Successful 2009 Pandemic campaign

·  Campus community emergency response team—great opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to get involved (CERT)

·  Human capital is the number one resource

·  Need to be able to take care of yourself for a minimum of 3 days; Wright State is prepared to help residents.

·  Get to know your neighbors. These are the first responders in a disaster or an emergency.

·  Give blood, take a first aid class/CPR

·  Training at fema.gov—free classes!

·  American Heart Association will be providing CPR/AED. If you want information, please email him.

New Business

·  Associates: There is an opportunity for the cabinet to have associates this year. There are many tools at your disposal. Associates are unpaid, 4 hour-a- week members. They will be approved on a needs-basis. You would need to let the Eboard know with your need. We will help you search for one, develop a job description, and progress through the interviewing process. All associates will be confirmed by the senate. Senators—please bring your observations/concerns about potential associates.

·  Political Party Association: Presidential elections are happening, so this subject is a little touchy. We need to keep this party association out of student government. It is important that we remain unbiased because we represent our entire constituencies. All of our constituents need to be able to talk to us about anything. We will not take an official stance on any bill—we will take a vote to educate people on topics.

·  Nominations for Homecoming Queen and King: Homecoming week starts Oct 8th; the homecoming game is the 7th. We can nominate someone from student government. Deadline to nominate people is September 26, 2012. We need to look into this as a way to collaborate with athletics. It’s a great way to show pride. Ballot nominations next week.

·  Wright Way Policy- Building and Grounds: The capital Wright Way policy is being looked into for changes. Joey and Spencer are working to make sure that students’ interests are being considered in this. Next week we will have concrete suggestions of what should be changed. Be thinking about our input to this committee.

·  Resolutions: There will be a resolution emailed. Resolutions are what we can bring to administrators to say this is the opinion of the student government body and the constituents we represent. Please do not hesitate to contact the Eboard for help on this. Resolutions need to be co-sponsored by 4 Members of Student Government; signatories do not need to be student government members. We will send out the format of the resolutions as well.

·  Disability Forum: In the process of getting a room to discuss disability issues; October is disability awareness month. Will push back the meeting until next Friday.

·  Memorial Scholarship: There was a student, Samantha Laos, who passed away over the summer. There is a memorial service in her honor (Oct TBA) and there is a scholarship up to $30,000. If you would like to contribute or know anyone who would be interested or would just like more information, please contact Kenny Burr.
