2008 DEPLOYED SOLDIER ARCHERY DEER HUNT APPLICATION PROCEDURES
The Minnesota Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is accepting applications for the Camp Ripley and AHATS Deployed Soldier Archery Deer Hunts near Little Falls and Arden Hills Minnesota. Registering and taking part in the Deployed Soldier hunts will not affect your eligibility for the regular Camp Ripley Hunt. You may apply for and hunt up to 2 of these hunts. Hunt sponsors include the DMA, and Department of Natural Resources.
Permits will be issued as follows: 150 permits for the Camp Ripley hunt and 40 permits for each AHATS hunt. Permits will be issued to Soldiers that have been mobilized to support the Global War on Terrorism since September 11, 2001. You must have your application in by August 29, 2008. A drawing in early September 2008 will be held at Camp Ripley. Only Successful applicants will be notified by mail. Those successful will be mailed the hunt rules, and orientation and logistical information.
All hunters will be required to have a valid Minnesota archery deer-hunting license and attend one pre-hunt orientation session to participate in the Camp Ripley Hunt. Mandatory orientation sessions for the Camp Ripley hunt will occur Tuesday October 7, 2008 at 1000, 1300 and 1500. You will be allowed to scout and set stands after the orientation. Orientation for the AHATS hunt will be briefed to you prior to your entry into AHATS. Deer of either sex may be taken during the hunt, and you are authorized to use bonus permits to take antlerless deer in addition to your regular license. The maximum bag limit for the Camp Ripley hunt is two deer per hunter (only one may be a buck, which must be tagged with your regular license). There is no limit to the number of antlerless deer harvested on AHATS provided a bonus tag is purchased for each deer harvested? No group applications will be allowed.
To apply you must complete an application available through any of the following two methods: apply via the DMA’s internet application link at http://www.minnesotanationalguard.org/campripley/envir/envir.htm or print the application form and send to Attn: Roxann Slimmer, Training Site Headquarters, 15000, HWY 115, Little Falls MN 56345. There is no application fee for the Camp Ripley or AHATS Deployed Soldier Hunts. It is important that your application reflect your current mailing address; this is where your winning notification will be sent if you are successful in the lottery. You will be allowed to hunt two of these hunts.
