Professor Tyler Ohcoa. Professor Ochoa is a recognized expert in copyright law and rights of publicity. He joined the Santa Clara University School of Law faculty in 2003, and he served as Academic Director of the High Technology Law Institute for the 2005-2006 academic year. Prior to joining Santa Clara Law, Professor Ochoa served as a professor and co-director of the Center for Intellectual Property Law at Whittier Law School. He has also served as a clerk for the Honorable Cecil F. Poole of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and as an associate with the law firm of Brown & Bain in Palo Alto, California, where he specialized in copyright and trade secret litigation involving computer software. He is also a two-time "Jeopardy!" champion and a champion on "Win Ben Stein's Money".
Dr. Annette Kur. Dr. and Professor Annette Health (Kur) is a senior member of research staff and head of unit at the Max-Planck-Institute (MPI) for intellectual property, competition and tax law, and an associate professor at the University of Stockholm. She is a lecturer in trademark law, intellectual property law and private international law at Munich University (LMU), Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC), and Swedish School of Economics, Helsinki. Dr. Health is the author of books and numerous articles in the field of national, European and international trademark, unfair competition and industrial design law as well as international jurisdiction.
Prof. Dr. Michael Lehmann. Dr. and Professor of Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law. External Associate, Department of Intellectual Property and Competition Law. Specializing in IP law; private law; trade law; computer law; economic analysis of law.
Dr. Stacey Farmer. Dr. Farmer holds a Ph.D. in neuroscience / neurotoxicology from the Johns Hopkins University (1997), a B.S. in biological sciences, with honors, from University of California, Irvine (1990) and a J.D. from Santa Clara University Law School in Santa Clara, California (2000). Dr. Farmer is authorized to practice before the EPO and the U.S. PTO. She is admitted as a UK Solicitor, England and Wales; a U.S. Attorney at Law (Washington, D.C.); and as a U.S. Patent Attorney.
Prof. Dr. Theo Bodewig. Dr. and Professor at the Humboldt-Univ. of Berlin Law School. Prof. Bodewig's principle interest of Research is Industrial Property Law and Copyright Law, Antitrust Law, the Law of the European Union and US-Law. He has authored several articles and books including Government Funded R&D and Patent Protection in the USA, and The Recall of Defective Products - A Study of the Duty to Recall under German, European and US Civil Law.
Mitthias Schaefer. He established in 1998 SCHÄFER PatentTrademark & Design in Munich, Germany. Professional experience in handling patent and trademark cases since 1995. Mr.Schaefer is a registered German and European Patent Attorney as well as aEuropean Trademark Attorney.
Dan L. Burk. Professor Burk teaches at UC Irvine school of law. He is an internationally prominent authority on legal and social issues related to high technology, whose research encompasses the areas of patent, copyright, electronic commerce, and biotechnology law. Some of his most recent work has considered the statutory “policy levers” used by courts to apply patent incentives to industries with diverse innovation profiles, as well as the effect of intellectual property rights on the structure of firms and of industries.
Dr. Armin K. Bohmann. Dr. Bohmann is a founding member of the law firm of Bohmann & Loosen in Munich, Germany. The firm specializes in Intellectual Property matters. Dr. Bohman’s own expertise lies in the biotechnology area. He earned a Ph.D. from the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg. He subsequently was a post-doc in Japan, studying artificial organs.
Dr. Martin Grund. Partner and founder of the Grund Intellectual Property Group, Dr. Grund has been a European Patent Attorney and European Trademark & Design
Attorney since 1999 and a German Patent Attorney since 1997. He is presently
admitted to practice before the European Patent Office, the German Federal Patent
Court, the German Patent and Trademark Office, the Office for Harmonization in the
Internal Market, WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization), and the German
Supreme Court for patent nullity proceedings.
Dr. Silke von Lewinski. Dr. Silke von Lewinski is head of department on international law and particular problems of developing countries at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Patent, Copyright and Competition Law in Munich. She has been an expert consulting the European Commission, in particular regarding the EC Rental Rights Directive and regarding the WIPO Diplomatic Conference 1996 where she was a member of the delegation of the European Communities. Dr. von Lewinski is the main legal expert consulting the governments of several Eastern and Central European and former Soviet Union countries on their copyright legislation in the framework of the PHARE-program (since January 1995) and the TACIS-program (since 1996), both established and administered by the European Commission.
Dr. von Lewinski is Adjunct Professor at Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz (since 1991) and at Franklin Pierce Law Center, Concord, N.H., USA (since 1993) as well as at the Gulf Institute for International Law, Dubai (since 1997). She has been a visiting professor at the Université Laval, Québec, Canada (1993), at Université de Nantes (1996), Adjunct Professor at McGill University, Montreal (1993) and the first Walter Minton Visiting Fellow at Columbia University, New York (1998).
Dr. von Lewinski received her university degree in law from the Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich, took her Bar Exam in Munich and received the "Heinrich-Hubmann" award for the best treatise in copyright 1991. She is a member of ALAI and ATRIP. She is on the International Advisory Board of the Gulf Institute for International Law, Dubai and on the International Editorial Board of "Les Cahiers de la Propriété Intellectuelle", Canada.
Dr. Heinz Goddar. German Patent Attorney and European Patent and Trademark Attorney, Partner, Munich, Shanghai. Heinz Goddar, Prof., Dr., a German Patent Attorney and European Patent and Trademark Attorney, is partner of Boehmert & Boehmert and of Forrester & Boehmert, with his office at Munich. Technical background (as well as PhD degree) in physics, with a focus on polymer physics. He teaches Patent and Licensing Law as an Honorary Professor at the University of Bremen, Germany, as a Lecturer at the Centre d'Etudes Internationales de la Propriete Industrielle (CEIPI), Strasbourg, France, as well as at the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC), Munich, Germany.
Dr. Stefan Schohe. Dr. and Attorney at Boehmert & Boehmert. German Patent Attorney, European Patent and Trade Marks Attorney. Dr. Schohe studied physics at the University of Karlsruhe and at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. After his graduation from the University of Karlruhe he spent several years as research associate at the University of Würzburg (PhD in physics) and was mainly involved in research in the field of solid state physics and, more specifically, superconductivity. His particular interests relate to physical technology and the computer field, especially software related problems.
