JOB DETAILS
Job Title:Social Enterprise Manager - Wales
Location:Throughout Wales – mainly Cardiff region, Swansea and Colwyn Bay
Hours:37.5 each week – 2 x part time or job share considered
Grade:10 - £32,662 to £34,203 per annum
Reporting to:Major Grant and Trust Fundraising Manger
JOB SUMMARY
The core aim of this post is to create ‘start up’ companies that can use and enhance the skills of ex-Armed Forces personnel who are living within the supported accommodation. It is crucial that in time the social enterprises generate a profit that can be fed back into the support and training for the residents.
This is a new development for Alabaré and as such requires creativity, innovation and dynamism to ensure success, the work is within the social enterprise team of Alabaré supported through the Major Grant and Trust Manager. The role involves identifying gaps within the business sector in Wales in the areas of the Homes for Veterans.
We require a person(s) who are enthused by the core aims of Alabaré, passionate about community and supporting Veterans into employment. The person(s) will work as part of a team and be given support as the project develops.
This project is funded through the People and Places Grant, Big Lottery.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Social Enterprise Development
- Identify opportunities and be innovative and flexible in building social enterprises in Wales
- Connect with businesses within localities in South and North Wales. Be responsible for starting, developing and operating new social enterprises in Wales
- Be active and share corporate responsibility for the ongoing development of the operational strategy across the Homes for Veterans in Wales
- Connect with the Military, Reservist and Veteran community to have effective partnerships and develop employment opportunities
- Work with the Homes for Veterans and their Team Leaders to create volunteering and employment opportunities within the social enterprises and work in conjunction with the Alabaré training team and partner agencies in delivery of wider training and employment opportunities
- Ensuring the Social Enterprise is an integral part of the marketing of Alabaré, fundraising and engaging with the local communities supporting transition of Veterans into their local community
Monitoring and Reporting
- Be a member of the Management Team and deliver key performance targets. Be responsible for monitoring and reporting against the key performance indicators for the project reporting to the funder as required
- Providing reports for the Management Team, Trustees and funder as required
- Work with colleagues to develop relationships with key stakeholders (e.g. local and regional businesses, other charities, and voluntary sector groups)
Governance and Quality
- Support the development and implementation of quality standards ensuring that service users are given the best possible care and support with the best possible outcomes
- Ensure that high standards of Corporate and Operational Governance are maintained across the services within remit
- Ensure that risks are appropriately identified and that they are managed to reduce harm to service users, staff or charity reputation
- Maintain and expand effective communication channels with Senior Managers, Team Leaders, staff, service users and partners to ensure a shared vision in delivery of social enterprises
- Work in conjunction with the Fundraising team to ensure that the social enterprises are in line with the Charities fundraising and income generating strategy. To be an active part of the fundraising team in their fundraising plans and activities
- Work with the Marketing team to market the Charity’s services to both service users and the business sector
