Tuesday, April 18th:
-Opener:
-Students will copy and edit the paragraph projected onto the smart board.
-As a class, we will edit the text together and discuss the grammatical conventions applied.
-Lesson Presentation:
-We will review Acts I and II of Hamlet.
-After having reviewed, we will begin reading and discuss Act III; students will read aloud for a grade.
-During the last fifteen minutes of class, students will complete a journal entry that corresponds to the text.
-We will review the proper format and conventions for analytical writing.

Wednesday, April 19th:
-Opener:
-Students will copy and edit the paragraph projected onto the Smart board.
-As a class, we will edit the text together and discuss the grammatical conventions applied.
-Lesson Presentation:
-We will review the portion of Act III read in class yesterday.
-Then, we will resume our reading of the text; the students will read aloud for a daily grade.
-Students will be given a set of writing prompts that correlate with the text; they are to pick one of the prompts and write an analytical journal exploring the work.
-We will review the proper format and conventions for analytical writing.

Thursday, April 20th:
-Opener:
-Students will copy and edit the paragraph projected onto the Smart board.
-As a class, we will edit the text together and discuss the grammatical conventions applied.
-Lesson Presentation:

-Then, we will finish reading the Act.
-Students will, then, take a quote quiz on Act III of Hamlet.
-They will use the remaining time to complete the Act III study guide.

-As a class, we will edit the text together and discuss the grammatical conventions there applied.
-Lesson Presentation:
-Students will turn in the Act III Study guide for a completion grade.
-To review, we will then go over the study guide questions.
-We will watch, discuss, and compare Act III of the Mel Gibson and Kenneth Branaugh film adaptations of the play.
-Which version is truest to the text? Which time period best fits the play? Which version is most aesthetically pleasing?

-Lesson Presentation:
-2nd period will take a quiz on Chapters 8 and 9 of Night.
-They will proceed to watch the film, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
-As they watch the film, they will take notes about how it relates to the text read in class.
-4th and 7th periods will finish watching the film.
-As they watch, they will finish completing their notes and will turn them in at the end of class.
-We will discuss the film and its similarities to the text.
-Next, we will begin reviewing for the unit test on Night.

-As a class, we will edit the text together and discuss the grammatical conventions there applied.
Lesson Presentation:
-Second period will finish watching the film; after we discuss its relevance in relation to the text, students will turn in the notes they were asked to take while watching.
-We will then review for tomorrow’s test.
-Fourth and seventh periods will complete a comprehensive review of the material for tomorrow’s unit test on Night.
-The review will encompass the characters, the key plot elements, and the literary devises and themes prevalent in the text.

-Students will take the unit test for Night.
-Should students complete the assessment early, they will begin making a pretest on poetry as we prepare to begin our next unit.

-Students will turn in this week’s bell ringers for a grade.
-Next, students will complete a pretest on poetry as we prepare to begin our next unit.
-Then, students will take literature notes concerning the basic poetic conventions.
-Lastly, to begin our unit and explore poetry, students will write a poem using each letter of their names.

-Exit Slip: List three things you learned about poetry.
