General Information Technology Services Center Operating Procedures

1.  Information Technology Department employees (employees include district paid staff, internships, consultants who perform duties on behalf of the Information Technology Services Center) must adhere to all Board policies and regulations.

2.  Information Technology Department employees must abide by all local, state, and federal laws in accordance to the use of copyrighted materials.

3.  All work will be done in a professional manner.

-  Follow the chain of command when issues arise.

-  Personal opinions must not inhibit projects or work duties.

-  All proposed changes to district policies and /or procedures must be presented and approved by the Director of Technology and will be delegated through the chain of command by the Information Technology CIO if needed.

-  Keep the work environment neat and orderly.

-  Dress appropriately.

-  Get work done on time and stay in communication with the end users and your supervisor.

4.  Don’t create situations where micro management is needed.

-  Use common sense. If you have questions, ask. Don’t assume.

-  Do not intimidate and/or threaten your co-workers.

-  Work with one another and not against one another. Cooperate.

-  As issues arise, follow the appropriate channels to resolve conflicts.

5.  Information Technology Department employees must not use District technology equipment, software, telephony, etc. for personal gain. Equipment may be used for personal non-profit use as long as the use falls within local, state, and federal laws and / or District Board policies. Equipment may be used for personal use given that no monetary gain is involved and prior approval by the Information Technology CIO and/or the Superintendent of Schools.

6.  Unauthorized infiltration or use of District’s internal/external network system is prohibited. All users of District’s internal/external network system must have signed the respective agreement forms prior to granting access to any district network system.

7.  All new proposals or changes to systems, applications, etc. must be approved by the Information Technology CIO.

8.  All system changes should be accompanied with appropriate documentation when applicable (i.e. analysis of the problem or changes including the current scope of the situation, a design or proposed solution, a plan to solve the problem or implement the changes, a cost analysis of the project.)

9.  All major projects will be discussed and approved by the Information Technology CIO, the Superintendent of Schools, and/or by the Board of Education.

10.  New district/school related projects will be approved and delegated by the Information Technology CIO and/or Superintendent of Schools. Employees of the Information Technology Department are not to take on any additional district/school related projects or duties other that what has been delegated by the Information Technology CIO and/or Superintendent of Schools.

11.  All duties must follow the employees designated job description unless otherwise authorized by the Information Technology CIO and/or Superintendent of Schools.

12.  All technology purchases must be approved by the Information Technology CIO and/or the Superintendent of Schools unless otherwise delegated by the IT CIO.
