THE CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE SERVICE
The solemnization of Matrimony is a Christian act of worship in
which two people promise, in the sight of God and in the
presence of their friends and relatives, that they
will love, comfort, honour and cherish one another, and live
together faithfully for the rest of their lives.
This service takes place in the Church and the conduct of the
service is the responsibility of the clergy of the parish.
We invite couples who ask for the Church’s service and blessing, to worship with us in St. Luke’s and to consider seriously - if not
already faithful members - renewing their life in the church at this
time.
A celebration of the Holy Eucharist can be an important part of the
Christian Marriage Service, as newlyweds begin their life together
kneeling at the Lord’s Table to receive the Bread and Wine of Holy
Communion. The clergy will be happy to discuss this with you.
DATE AND TIME
The Canon Law of the Anglican Church of Canada requires that ‘thosewho intend to marry give notice to the minister at least sixty (60) days
before the day proposed for the wedding’. It is helpful if more notice
than this is given so that the church building might be reserved and that
there be time for unhurried interviews, before the wedding.
Weddings may be booked on Saturdays at the following times:
1:30p.m., 3:00p.m. & 4:30p.m.

MUSIC FOR THE WEDDING CEREMONY
The music is the responsibility of the Church Organist. As a wedding
ceremony is an act of Christian worship offered to God, the music will be
the traditional sacred music of the Anglican Church that confirms to both
the religious and musical standards of the parish, the diocese, and the
organist. If you have any questions concerning the wedding music, please contact the organist, Jennifer Goodine at (905) 634-1826 . If you wish to have a soloist at your ceremony, he/she will need to consult and rehearse with the organist, before the week of the wedding.
