Thank you for your interest in Council’s Green Licensing Package

This Package has been put together for all Council's Environmental Licensees who want to be a leader in their industry and become a Green Licensee.

Council supports and appreciates businesses that are “green” and stand out from the rest. Therefore, some new products have been developed for those licensees who achieve excellent standards of environmental performance and hold a Green Licence.

The major feature of a Green Licence is the 50% annual licence fee reduction for licence holders.

Other significant features of a Green Licence are the marketing products that are available for Green Licensees in order for them to show off, to their customers and competitors, that they are an Environmental Partner and are better than the rest.

The Marketing Products are:

Window / wall sticker - designed to be placed at your premises to advertise to the public and other businesses that you are a Green Licensee.

Certificate - an attractive new certificate, which compliments the sticker, has been designed to display to your customers.

A Green Licence brochure - a brochure for distribution to your customers to explain to them the benefits of them supporting your business and to tell them that you are an Environmental Partner.

Green Licence logo - as a Green Licensee, you are able to have a copy of Council’s electronic Green Licencelogo for use on your web-sites and items such as stationary. This will help further market your Green License statusto the public.

Council’s Web Site – there will be opportunities to use Council’s web site and “ to advertise your business and show the public how committed you are to being an Environmental Partner.

This Package consist of the following documents:

  1. Green Licence Brochure - This brochure explains what a Green Licence is
  2. Green Licence Self-assessment Guide - This brochure is explained in more detail below
  3. Cleaner Production Self Assessment Guide - This guide has some useful information on how to prevent pollution
  4. Operator's Environmental Guide for Environmentally Relevant Activities - This guide is useful for you to see what best practice methods are required to be used by your business so as to receive a Green Licence

How do you obtain a Green Licence?

Use the Green Licence Self-Assessment Guide to determine if you are eligible to hold a Green Licence.

If you answered yesto all questions relevant to your business, then you could be ready to become a Green Licensee and you should contact your regional Development Officer – Environmental Health for an inspection of your premises. (Call Centre 3403 8888)

If the inspection of your premises was satisfactory and it showed that you are operating using best practice methods, you will be required to submit a “Pollution Prevention Plan” for approval prior to receiving your Green Licence. (This Plan will be given to you at the time of the inspection)

If you answered noto any questions relevant to your business, you will need to rectify those issues before requesting an inspection.

Attached is a Checklist to help you through the steps to take to obtain a Green Licence.

Inspection

6. / Was the inspection successful? / If yes go to step 8 / If no go to step 7
7. / Call the Officer again to make an appointment - but only once all the outstanding conditions have been complied with.

Pollution Prevention Plan

8. / Have I completed the Pollution Prevention Plan (that the Officer gave me at the time of the inspection) using the Operators Environmental Guide and the Cleaner Production Guide to help me?
9. / Have I submitted the Pollution Prevention Planto Council for approval?

Green Licence Approved

10. / Have I received the Green Licence Approval Package?
(congratulation letter, sticker, certificate, 100 brochures to give to customers and two copies of the Deed of Agreement to use the logo)
11. / Do I want to use Council's Green Licence electronic Logo to use (for free) to market my Green Licence Status? / If yes go to step 12 / no further action required
12. / Sign both copies of the Deed of Agreement supplied to you with your approval package & return to the address listed at the top of the congratulation letter. (provide your e-mail address if you have one) / Your logo will be sent to you
