HMA IS NOT JUST FOR HIGHWAYS

Abstract
From bike paths to highways, from parking lots to airports, hot mix asphalt (HMA) is the strongest, longest-lasting pavement. This feature highlights several of the recipients of the 1999 National Asphalt Pavement Association's (NAPA) National Awards. NAPA honored Duval Asphalt Products for its Clay County Recreational Trail in Jacksonville, Florida. Graniterock Company of Watsonville, California, received the Quality in Construction award for its work on Highway 28 on the San Francisco peninsula. The Brannan Sand and Gravel Company of Denver, Colorado, submitted three parking lots for consideration, and all three received the award. Brooks Construction was honored for its work in paving the 4,360-ft runway at Tri-State Steuben Country Municipal Airport in Fort Wayne, Indiana. A sidebar lists all 1999 Quality in Construction winners under 50,000 tons.
