Supplementary Regulations - Ulster Championship Races 2018
1. The UKC Ltd. will organise six Clubman Permit kart race events on 24th March, 14th April, 16th June, 21st July, 15th September and 16th October at Nutts Corner. Circuit 1 length is 1,317 metres and Circuit 2 is 1495metres, Circuit3 is 1263metres

N.B. National B/Clubman permit races will be held on5TH May and 4th August(NIKA/ NI Superkart Championship),and 18/19August (Irish Gran Prix)
The series of 6 Clubman events will constitute the Ulster Championship for 2018
2. The events will be held under the General Regulations of the MSA Ltd (incorporating the provisions of the International Sporting Code of the FIA), the 2018 Kart Race Yearbook rules, these Supplementary Regulations, the Regulations for the 2018Ulster Cup Championship, and any written Instructions the Organising Club may issue for the event.
3. The events are open to all UKC driver members who must produce at Signing On a minimum MSA Clubman(or Motorsport Ireland) Competition Licence or a Kart Club (Tyro) form complete with a passport photograph and UKC Club Membership card for 2018.
4. Programme of events:
Sign on/Scrutiny 7.30 – 9.00am: Drivers briefing- 9.15am: Official Practice – 9.30am.
There will be 3 laps practicefor all classes.
Bambino will run 4 timed outings of 5 minutes on race day. Karts will start approximatelytwo seconds apart.
Direct drive classes will dothree heats of 8 laps and a final of 15 laps.
Gearbox classes will do 4 races of 12laps.
Circuits for classes to be determined in accordance with the MSA track licences. Any variation to schedule, circuit being used, number of laps and combining of classes will be at the discretion of the C.of C. on the day.
The World Formula classwill also have a non championship20 lap race on TBC .Grid positions to be determined by random draw. ?????
The Cadet class will also have anon championship15 lap raceonTBC. Grid positions to be determined by random draw.??????
The Senior Maxclass will also will have a non championship 20 lap raceonTBC. Grid positions to be determined by random draw. ?????
Tyres usedby the driver for the abovenon championship races have to be the tyres used by the driver in the Ulster Championship races in accordance with par 12.2 of these SR’s.
5. Classes to be run: Bambino, Junior Tyro CadetIAME/Comer Cadet Honda Clubman, Rotax Mini Max(As pooled engine system), RotaxJunior Max, RotaxSenior Max, Kart Clubman ( World Formula) , Mini X30 Junior X30, Senior X30 S/K 125, S/K 250 KZ 2.
6. The maximum number of entries will be 200. The minimum is 40. Minimum for each class is 6.
Should the above minimum figures not be reached, the organisers have the right to cancel the event or the class.
7. Prizes will be awarded for the Finals of each event at a ratio of 1 prize/ 6 starters in each class to a maximum of 5 prizes.
Cadet classes may have a higher number of prizes.
Points – will be awarded to finishers per U12.5.1 of the Blue Book. Ulster Championship points will be scored for results in the heats and the final of each event.
Points for Heats are – 25 points for first place, then 20, 18, 16, 15, 14, 13 etc. down to 1 pt. for 19th place.
Points for Finals are doubled – i.e. 50 points for first place, then 40, 36, 32, 30, 28, 26 etc. down to 2 pts for 19thplace.
THE Winner of the Ulster Championship by class will have the highest points totalcalculated in accordance with Ulster Karting Club Championship 2018 Regulation 1.6. Ties will be decided by the best points on 16thOctober 2018. event.
8. Grid position for heats will be by pre-arranged draw, giving varying grid positions over three heats. Points gainedfrom heats will determine the start position for the Final. Tie breaker is the best fastest lap achieved in any heat.
9. Entries open immediately for each event.
The entry fee is £75.00 for all classes except Bambino. The entry fee for Bambino is £50.00. Entry fees to be paid, by cheque or postal order, with the entry( hire fee is £10-00. Competitors requiring confirmation of entry should request this and include a first class stamped self-addressed envelope with their entry, or supply an e-mail address with the entry.

10a. No entries will be accepted after signing on is completed on race day, unless there is an exceptional circumstance.

12. Classes must run to the class rules in the 2018Kart Race Yearbook(or ABkCregs.) with the following amendments:-
12.1Kart Clubman (World Formula) willuse Dunlop SL3 dry tyres and Dunlop KT3 wet tyres or Maxxistyres as specified in the KTE for this class. Minimum licence required is MSA clubman licence.
12.2 S/K 125 and S/K 250 classes will run to the 2018 NIKA Championship Technical Requirements.
12.3Cadet Honda class will run to the engine buy back regulation set out in appendix 2 of the Ulster Championship Regulations.
Honda Cadet & IAME Cadet will race at the same time, with mixed grids but for separate awards and points, unless otherwise stated in the ASRs for the event. Heat grids will be determined as per the ASRs for the event, final grids will be determined by overall race results, regardless of a competitor’s class.
Novice competitors in IAME Cadet and Honda Cadet will gridded at the rear of the grid for the heats. Novice competitors may take their gird position for the final based on their overall race results.
12.4 Classes - Rotax Mini Max, Rotax Jun Max and Rotax Senior Maxcompetitors may have a full fitting kit, including cables & leads for the attachment of a Uni Logger system. If fitted, it should be maintained and in full working order to their kart at all times. The Unilogger fitting kit, comprising an engine speed sensor, an axle speed sensor, cables and attachments. If competitors no do not have the fitting cables for the attachment of a Uni Logger system, competitors prior to the start of any/all races during an event must present their kart on the dummy grid in sufficient time and with the appropriate tools for a pre-race inspection of clutches by the scrutineers
The Unilogger units will be supplied by UKC Ltd, and installed on a selection of competitors karts for each heat orfinal. The selection of karts to carry a Unilogger unit will be by the Chief Scrutineer. Uniloggers must correctly fitted and are the sole responsibility of the competitor, who will be liable for any damage. After the heat or race, scrutineering willreview the information from the Unilogger, and any anomalies or non-permitted settings may result in a non-compliance document being issued and passed to the C.of C. If the clutch is shown not to comply with the regulations, the C.of C. will apply a minimum penalty of exclusion from the heat or race.
12.5 Rotax Mini Max must use engines and appliances supplied by the UKC as specified in Appendix 3 of the Ulster Championship Regulations.
12.6 Competitors can only use one chassis and two engines for each event, with the exception ofcadet Honda class who may use only 1 engine. Chassis & Engine numbers must be registered on the scrutineering card before official practice. Use of chassis/engines other than those registered on the card will cause a minimum penalty of exclusion from thatheat or race.
12.7Fuel must comply with MSA specification (U16.17)
13.All Classes will be restricted to the dry tyre allocation listed in appendix 1 of the Ulster Karting Club Championship Regulations.
Note that drivers in World Formula and Cadet Classes are allowed only 2 sets of dry tyres for whole of the UKC season including the Ulster Championship,Ulster Cup and Irish Gran Prix.)
Tyres must be mounted on rims and inflated, before being presented to the scrutineers for marking/checking and only officially marked tyres must be used at each event including official practice. The Competitor is responsible for insuring they are using the correctly marked tyres in the event per their allocation and that the identification marking is clearly legible.
If during post race scrutiny the Chief Scrutineer considers that a tyre is damaged and should be replaced then the replacement tyre must be part worn to a similar condition of that being replaced and must be fitted before the kart leaves park ferme.
14. Drivers must be registered to race in Northern Ireland and use race numbers allocated by a NIKA representative. (A NIKA representative will be at all events). Numbers must be fitted by the competitor to the front, rear and both sides of the kart.
14.1Transponders must be fitted to each kart per Kart Yearbook Appendix 4 – F.2.
15. Engines may not be started until after 9am on Saturday and 10am on Sunday and then only with the driver seated in the kart and in the area designated by the club.
16. When starting, karts may only join the circuit from the dummy grid area before the green race start light is displayed.
On the parade lap(s)drivers may regain their grid position between the dummygridand the last marshal’s post before the start line. If a driver misses out a section of the circuit during a heat or race, a penalty of one lap deduction will apply.
17. Only signed on officials are permitted onto the track during racing.
18. Provisional results will be posted as soon as possible after each race and after the event.
Any protest or appeal must be lodged in accordance with Section C 5.1.2 of the MSA Regulations.
19. Any abuse, either verbal or physical, directed to an official or another competitor will be dealt with severely.
Entrants/Drivers are responsible at all times for the actions of their friends, relations and pit crew at the event.
20. The organisers have the right to change the make/type of tyres from those specified if a case of force majeure on availability occurs. Competitors must take all their used tyres with them from the circuit. Tyres must not be put in circuit rubbish containers.
21. (a) All equipment used by a competitor must be produced to the scrutineer on request at any stage of the event.
(b) The competitor is responsible for having sealing holes drilled to permit secure sealing of any equipment used.
(c) Any piece of equipment or part thereof, may be retained by the scrutineer for eligibility checking.
22.1 Infringement of Technical Regulations will be as per Section C of the MSA Regulations excepting items below: -
(a) Serious Technical infringements (e.g. illegal engine or equipment) will cause exclusion from the results of the meeting, the championship penalties in C3.5.1.(a) and (b), and, additionally, a penalty of (-100) points. Penalty point’s score from that round must be counted as one of the scoring rounds.
(b) Other Technical infringements (e.g. underweight, loss of bodywork in a race incident etc.) will result in exclusion from the heat or final, and will not carry the further penalties in C3.5.1.
2.2 A penalty of exclusion from the meeting for any other reason, or suspension or disqualification, means the 0 points score from that round must be counted as one of the scoring rounds.
23. No footballs scooters, bikes etc. are permitted in paddocks during racing. Any driver or person of their team found to be breaking this rule may be disciplined by the Clerk of Course.
